"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has dominated the box office in many ways since opening on December 18th 2015. The epic space opera has grossed more than $2 billion worldwide according to Entertainment Weekly. “The Force Awakens” is only the third movie in box office history to reach that achievement.

The seventh film in the “Star Wars” saga gained $13.9 million globally over the weekend, increasing the overall earnings to $2.08 billion. According to experts, “The Force Awakens” becoming the highest-grossing movie in cinema history is a long shot. “Avatar” earned $2.79 billion that set the mark during its respective theatrical run. "Titanic" looks to be the next record to be broken as the 1997 film currently sits in second place with $2.19 billion.
