So to start out I'm going to say i will not include any Ghibli films in this list, because if we're going to that's all that would be on this list... but i did make a list of the top 5 Ghibli films of all time. This is my top 5 anime movies of all time.

5. The place promised in our early days

The anime follows the story of three friends living in Aomori on the northern end of southern Japan: two boys, Hiroki Fujisawa and Takuya Shirakawa, both child prodigies; and one girl, Sayuri Sawatari. In 1996, the three are in ninth grade, their last year of middle school. The two boys have found a crashed Maritime Self-Defense Force drone plane. Naming it the Bella Ciela, they work on rebuilding the plane with the support of Mr. Okabe, their boss at a military plant. The three teenagers promise to one day fly to Hokkaido to visit the Tower that just might connect two worlds together . However, before they can do this, Sayuri mysteriously disappears during the summer. This is a slow paced film set over three years and is really a enjoyable piece.

4. Evangelion 2.22 You Can (Not) Advance

The second film in the rebuild of Evengelion series. this one is my personal favorites, as it splits from what the original TV series had set in place and compleatly reinvents the films into something new and unique. The film is set in a world unrecognizeable due to the effects of the second impact, which heralded the coming of the angle;s massive entities bent on the destruction of the world. The film follows Senji Icari a young boy who has the ability to pilot a giant mecha called an Eva which has the ability to combat the Angels. If you havent seen the film series....... stop what you're doing right now and go binge watch one of the best set of films of all time.

3. Ghost in the Shell

This trippy cyberpunk film was actually the main influence to The Wachowskis for their hit The Matrix. the film is a vary well made psychological thriller which will constantly make you wonder who the true villain is. The film is set in In 2029, the world is interconnected by a vast electronic network that permeates every aspect of life. Much of humanity has access to this network through cybernetic bodies, or "shells", which possess their consciousness and can give them superhuman abilities. It follows Major Motoko Kusanagi as she tries to find the mysterious puppet master, a hacker who can seemingly hack anything and more importantly anyone.

2. Summer Wars

This film was directed by Mamoru Hosoda, who has been heralded as the next miyazaki. the film fallows Kenji a moderator on the massively popular game OZ a game that is used in every thing from business to pleasure. but when Kenji gets whisked away by his friend Natsuki to act as her boyfriend at her family reunion the adventure begins. this is a vary fun film to watch with vibrant colors and a vary fun plot this is an absolute must see

1. Nausicaä and the valley of the wind

Ok so I stretched the truth a bit. this film now considered to be Ghibli's first film it was created before studio Ghibli had been created and was not realesed under the Ghibli name therefore not a Ghibli film. the film is set in a post apocalyptic world inhabited by large man-eating creatures. Humans live in settlements that are few and far in between. The film follows Nausicaä, a free spirited adventurer who loves the large overgrown forests. But when a mysterious airship crashes with an ancient weapon the true adventure begins. This is another wonderful gem created by Hayao Miyazaki and is a must watch for any anime fan.

So there it is, my top 5 anime movies of all time. i hope you enjoyed it. what's your favorite anime film of all time? Let me know down in the comments or check out my poll and tell me which one from my list is your favorite.
