Recently, the website PuckerMob.com published an article on their website entitled, "24 Signs You're Dating a Superhero Boyfriend" written by Alexa Thompson. This piece talks about the day-to-day advantages of dating a super guy who's nice and respectful, saying that what makes him a superhero is that "He earned your trust" and "Is gentle with your heart." But I think this grossly underestimates the day-to-day struggle it would be to date a comic book or silver screen hero. Here are some signs you would notice if your boyfriend or girlfriend was actually a superhero:

1. You're Constantly Held Hostage for Their Attention

If you're involved with a superhero, like Iron Man, Batman, or Superman, your partnership is well known to the press and public alike. And like any public figure that someone disagrees with, you run the risk of having a huge target on you and your partner's back. Just remember that if you are dating a superhero, this happens A LOT, so plan ahead of your abduction by bringing a cell phone or even just a snack to sit there and hold you over until your super sweet heart arrives to save you.

2. They Can Have Daddy (and Mommie) Issues...

It’s well known that most superheroes have suffered incredible loss to motivate them to do good. Whether you’re dealing with a Bruce Wayne, where he spends his free time brooding over the guilt he feels over the events in Crime Alley, or Peter Parker, where he never knew his parents but managed to have his Uncle Ben killed under his watch, you’re going to be dealing with plenty of moments of sulking and staring out of a window while your partner dramatically thinks of their losses.

3. They Keep A Couple Secrets From You...

Whether it's for your own protection from others or just because they don't know how you'll handle the truth, your dynamic date probably has some skeletons in his closet... unless he's Bruce Wayne, then there'd be a Batcave in his closet. Whether it's a secret identity, super powers, or their membership in, what is put simply, an intergalactic police force, everybody has something to hide.

4. They're A Quick Change Master...

It may seem like a strange skill for a partner to have, but one you as a partner can use to your advantage. I, for one, can think of plenty of situations where having someone who can undress at the speed of light would be handy.

5. They Can Be A Bit Reckless...

Despite what Hollywood makes it out to be, if your superhero significant other plans out date night, you would definitely need to take another look at what injuries your life insurance covers. It may seem magical to fly around the city in the arms of a Kryptonian, or swing from building to building with a man with arachnid abilities. But there's one common denominator with both of those situations, that being the slipping and hitting the ground. There's also one other force stronger then the love shared between a couple: gravity. If your superhero bae asks if you'd like to see the city from a whole new view, just remember the story of Gwen Stacy before you say yes.

6. But They'd Do Anything to Protect You

Despite all the of problems I've said throughout this piece about all of the issues one could face dating a bonafide comic book hero, there's one thing that would ring true. Whether it's Tony Stark, Captain America, Thor, Batman, Superman, Spiderman or any superhero from any franchise you can think off, they always defend what they love. They would use their powers to do whatever they can to protect all they love. Superheroes love their partners so much, most of the time they need to be reminded to rescue the rest of the population instead of the one person they love the most. The one thing a person should look for in a partner is complete devotion, and even if your significant other is a mere man, they can become the superhero of your dreams.
