That big question on fans' minds for [Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2](tag:1081113) is who will be joining the team for the sequel. The second installment will certainly have the plot involving the original five from the first film, but there has also been rumors about the second outing introducing us to characters that will eventually end up with Star Lord and the gang. All these talks about new characters being recruited as well has characters crossing over from the other MCU films are all still rumors. Next week these rumors won’t be rumors anymore when Marvel will announce new cast members joining the sequel.

According to a Q&A video released by director James Gunn on Facebook, the cast announcement will come next week. Gunn teased at least one female character who will be joining the team in the sequel.

“We have a new cast member playing a new member of the Guardians of the Galaxy and she was the most awesome and easiest person I’ve ever had to cast. She blew me the f*** away. She’s amazing, and I can’t wait to share her with the world.”

This news is just one of a few major announcements about the sequel, starting from the new logo to the script being finished and now the official cast list. Gunn mentioned that the new casting details will be announced “Next week I believe…Or at least most of them.” Two of Marvel Studios movies Captain America: Civil War and Doctor Strange will be released this year taking all the shine, but expect more news flooding the internet about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 because fans cannot wait any longer for Star Lord and his team's next outing.

Sequels don’t necessary do as well as their predecessor financially, but after seeing other MCU films like Captain America: Winter Solider and Iron Man 3 and Avengers: Age of Ultron, Director James Gunn may very well follow that successful train when he brings back the Guardians in 2017.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters on May 5, 2017
