With the most recent TV Spot released for Marvel's Captain America: Civil War, we see plenty of action and plenty of characters including Lt. Col. James Rhodes a.k.a. War Machine. Around 17 seconds into this trailer, we see a damaged and beaten War Machine lying on the ground, bloody and bruised.

Tony Stark looks at him in worry and makes us believe that we have seen the end of War Machine and the end of Rhodey Rhodes himself. But don't be alarmed, this really isn't the end as we know it, and here's why.

Tony Stark Would Not Team Up With Captain America Again If Rhodey Died

It's been speculated and rumored that Captain America will be killed by Crossbones (played by Frank Grillo) in Civil War, but if that doesn't happen, then he will surely play a big role in Infinity War. However, Iron Man is confirmed for that film, and he obviously wouldn't team up with Thanos to fight Cap and he wouldn't let the rest of the Avengers fight without him. But Iron Man wouldn't dare be on the same team as Steve Rogers if War Machine had been killed by Cap or Bucky Barnes. Therefore, it would ruin the plot for the future Avengers films if Rhodey were to be killed off by another Avenger, for The Avengers wouldn't exist anymore if that happened.

The MCU Wouldn't Kill Off A Hero, With Good Reason

Marvel films have never had a sad moment in them. More specifically, they've never had an upsetting death scene other than when Phil Coulson died in The Avengers, but his legacy was continued in the TV show Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. — and also when Quicksilver died in The Avengers: Age Of Ultron, but nevertheless, the team still kept moving forward. Marvel wouldn't dare depress the audience by killing War Machine, for it would ruin the bright, kid-friendly atmosphere that the MCU has displayed before with films such as The Avengers, Guardians Of The Galaxy, and Ant-Man. If a beloved and famous character in the MCU were to be killed off, it would leave a stigma and fans would feel less positive watching these films because they would believe another one of their favorite heroes would die. Not only would this cause fans to be upset, but the MCU itself would lose fans. That's like having Iron Man in 2012's The Avengers and killing him off before Age Of Ultron. Many people wouldn't have seen Age Of Ultron if Iron Man wasn't going to be in it, although he is a significantly bigger star within the franchise than the other heroes.

Most likely War Machine will live and continue to fight alongside Iron Man, but we'll just have to wait and see!
