Tonight’s episode of Legends of tomorrow was good, no doubt there, but it was a tad bit heavy on the inner team drama not that I minded. I feel it is important that the team show growth and in doing so, working through each of their faults, and fears, etc, is a must

Our Team goes to the 80’s!

So, the first stop in 1980’s is the Pentagon no less. Everything goes flawlessly until Jefferson accidentally triggers the alarm when in Firestorm guise and absorbs the electricity, a failsafe of some sort. Anyway, the team breaks out in spectacular fashion until Kendra “hawks out” and goes into full on Hawk Girl rage mode and lashes a poor soldier’s eyes out and if not for Firestorm quick reaction and swift dive and scoop, things could’ve been worse. AS the government likes to keep such events under wraps little harm was done.

They did accomplish their mission, however, and that was to obtain a legal classified document without the blacked out portions, aka the original document to find out what the US government knows about Savage and where to find him. Lo and behold he’s turned Red and is in the USSR.

Fire God, Slavic mythology, Dr. Stein you are quite the knowledgeable brain, but as Jefferson stated you can be annoying and overbearing at times, still though I am starting to like your character more and more. Anyway, this leads to what exactly? What could the Soviets be cooking up? Glad you asked.

Russia’s Firestorm Project

Yep, the Red commies are working on their own major weapon’s project, which leads to their very on Firestorm, and of course Dr. Stein couldn’t let this come to pass because this would spell certain doom to countless billions and the future would go kaput. Nevertheless, everything seems to be running smooth and Ray is left to his devices and is shutting down the core reactor. Then, Valentina Vostok, lead Russian scientist spearheading this project, walks in and ray goes all mushy eyed and self-righteous and demands that Snark goes out and play good guy and prevent her from entering the core for her safety. Of course, against his own best judgment he gives in forcing Ray back into his chair and out he goes to her aid only to be held up at gun point. Ah, the expected plot twist where she was not just some beautiful damsel in distress.

The one thing that did really bother me was the lack of Vandal Savage in the episode, though to be fair I guess he doesn’t have to be in every single episode. What is more, the Time Master, Rip’s superior and former mentor playing the Villain role, was refreshing (filling the void for Savage), and the shootout with Chronus, and the cowardly Time Master and his vanishing when the shit hit the proverbial fan, was timely. I expect to see more involvement in the show’s main story arc and would like to see some of them (Time Masters) see the serious threat that Savage has not just for Earth but all of Time and Space and then that could open more doors for interesting story arcs, but one step after another. Nevertheless, it is good food for thought.

Moving forward, we come to the arc that was touched upon in the previous episode where Rip and Sarah went into stop Savage only to find that Sarah’s blood lust was going to be a thing. Of course, we knew it would. How could it not? Now, in tonight’s episode, her blood lust would pale in comparison to the unbridled rage let loose by Hawk girl aka Kendra fully “Hawking out” and tearing a poor young solider to shreds, and removing his eyes from their sockets. Thus, leading Rip to figure out a solution that will hone her ability to control and accept herself and abilities and their first session doesn’t go as expected with Sarah damn near choking the life out of Kendra. But upon further consulting of Captain Rip, they give it another go and it seemed to be working. We shall see in the next episode, which will see them rescuing our friends from the Russian Gulag.

Lastly, I will touch on the Dr. Stein and Jefferson drama and how it wasn’t really all that bad and it worked out some major frustration that has been heating out (punny) over the course of the show’s short life, thus far. I, as I’ve mentioned, don’t like too much drama in my SCI FI or Superhero or Fantasy shows, movies, etc, but a little is to be expected and sometimes can lead to new and interesting territories for our characters, and I think tonight’s personal dramas should lead to stronger characters and stronger bonds between them. Only the future knows and we will have to go for the ride to see if I was right or if I was wrong. Anyway, thanks for reading, drop comments down below if you want, and let me know what you thought of the episode and my article.
