Batman vs Superman is almost upon us, just over a month away (March 25th) and the hype train is in full speed at the moment. So far we've seen 4 full trailers, a handful of TV spots and countless posters and so we know quite a lot about the movie. Lets point out what we know so far. Or so we think...
- Batman and Superman will fight
- Doomsday is supposedly in it
- We should see a Joker cameo
- We should see some future Justice League members
- Lex Luthor is experimenting on General Zod
Okay, so that was some of the things we might know about Batman vs Superman, before we crack into some of my predictions for the movie, check out the latest trailer below if you haven't already, it's the best one yet!
1. We will see a Robin in this movie
A lot of people (including me) are complaining that we may have seen too much footage from the movie in the third trailer and I think there may be a reason for this. My thinking is that they have so many surprises in the movie, that they can afford to show off some in the trailers. Does that mean I'm OK with Doomsday in the trailer? No, unless it's not actually Doomsday (more on that later).
Anyway, I think we'll see one of the Robin's in this movie, most likely Jason Todd or Dick Grayson. I'm not fully convinced that the picture above is a dead Jason Todd, it's just too obvious! I think it could be Nightwing's suit from when he was Robin. He's moved on to Bludhaven and The Joker is taunting him about being a failure of a role model to the now solo Dick Grayson. I'm guessing we'll see a glimpse of Dick Grayson somewhere in the third quarter of this movie showing the expanded universe.
2. The Flash will be in it for a maximum of 5 minutes
The Flash is heavily reported to be appearing in Batman v Superman, but I don't think you should get your hopes up too high! Of course they want to set up the Justice League, but they won't want to cluster this block-buster.
Instead, we will probably see a very brief scene on him in costume, saving some minor crime, like a bank robbery or a shop hold-up. I don't know if we'll get a good look at the costume, but we'll definitely know it's Flash when he's on screen.
3. Doomsday in the trailer isn't actually Doomsday
Bear with me on this one, my thinking is that, what if DC were planning a huge surprise in this movie to shock every fan who assumed this was Doomsday watching the trailer. Tons and tons of people reacted angrily to the unveiling of this character because how crappy he looks and how they showed it in the trailer.
But, consider this, they never actually call him Doomsday once in the trailer nor does the origin story match how Doomsday was created. Originally Doomsday was born in prehistoric times on Krypton and not from the remains of General Zod and presumably some Kryptonite that Lex Luthor got his hands on.
The man you see in the trailer is probably just some experiment on what happens when you mix Kryptonite, General Zod and some crazy-scientist techniques to form a big, crazy monster. If DC were smart, they would save Superman's equal in power for later films, possibly even Justice League! If this is actually Doomsday, then I will be one dissapointed fan. Hence why I'm waiting to see the movie first!
If you skip to 2.28 of the trailer below when Doomsday appears to using some sort of ray from his mouth and eyes and then we see a huge EMP looking explosion, you will notice that this looks like a totally different scene to what Doomsday is doing. I'm guessing this is some sort of track-shot to try fool us!
4. Lex Luthor will have leverage over Superman
I think we're all going to be in for a real shock when we see what Lex Luthor is really like in this movie. From the trailer, Luthor looks like a flamboyant, eccentric hippie who doesn't seem the slightest bit intimidating, but I reckon we shouldn't fall for such a front. I thin he will be a completely different character behind closed doors, just enough so that Bruce Wayne or Clark Kent cannot suspect anything.
The manipulating side to Luthor should come out in full force in this movie, he will have some sort of leverage over Superman, be it kryptonite, Lois Lane or even his mother. I could see Luthor being a little devil on Superman's shoulder, antagonizing him to defeat the ruthless Batman. This may be one of the main arcs of the movie in what should make a great battle between the two heroes. At the end of the movie they'll realize who the true villain is (Lex Luthor) and combine to form the start of the Justice League.
5. Superman will win the fight
Bear with me fans on this one. At heart, Batman is my favorite superhero and of course I've seen The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 & 2, where we know Batman is the victor, but I feel too many people know this to the point where it's just expected at this stage. I think the Man of Steel may take this one by just being far too powerful. We saw him do something in Man of Steel that we thought would never happen, so Zack Snyder could provide another curve-ball for this film, and that's what I think will happen.
So there's my 5 main predictions guys, let me know if you agree/disagree, I'd love to hear your opinions! For related posts regularly, follow my page!
