Are you tired of movie studios exploiting your childhood? Or are you thrilled at the chance to see your favorite childhood toys come to life on the big screen? Either way, buckle up because more movies are coming; and soon. Recently, reports have sprung up across the web, shedding light on upcoming films based on toy franchises. From board games to Barbie dolls, is nothing sacred anymore?

With films such as Transformers and The Lego Movie seeing extraordinary box-office success, more and more studios are looking to capitalize on this growing film trend. Listed below are the toys that are in the process of getting their own films!

1. Playmobil

Your favorite plastic pirates, knights, shop-owners, and wizards are finally coming to a theater near you. Following the success of The Lego Movie, the German based toy company was quick to announce production on their own film.

Title: Playmobil: Robbers, Thieves & Rebels. (Let's hope that's not final)

Plot: Not announced.

Release Date: TBD 2017

Dream Casting: Aziz Ansari (Parks & Recreation) as a Playmobil pirate. PLEASE.

2. Barbie

The world's best-selling diva is getting her spot in the limelight. Sony Pictures will produce the live-action film with Kate Upton and Margot Robbie as early fan favorites to play the titular character.

Title: Barbie

Plot: Not announced.

Release Date: June 2nd 2017

Dream Casting: I think Katrina Bowden (30 Rock) would make a great Barbie. Also, Scott Eastwood = Ken. Done.

3. Hungry Hungry Hippos

Although I'm not quite sure how they will make a feature length film about stationary, plastic hippos, I'm really excited to see what they do with this film. Emmet/Furla films have come on board as producers, but other then that, this film is still buried deep in production.

Title: Hungry Hungry Hippos.

Plot: Described as a family film. (What? No R-rated hippo movie? Bummer.)

Release Date: TBD.

Dream Casting: James Earl Jones as Hippo #1. Seriously. Darth Vader's voice in a Hippo body? I'd buy a ticket to see that.

4. Stretch Armstrong

Originally, Stretch was going to be a film developed by Relativity Media. However, after their studio went bankrupt, Netflix picked up the film rights to the stretchy man-toy and decided to turn it into a TV-series instead.

Title: Stretch Armstrong

Plot: Described as an action-comedy.

Release Date: 2017

Dream Casting: Rumors are flying that Taylor Lautner is in early talks to star as the shirtless, stretchy hunk. Although it's totally typecasting, I could see Lautner doing well in the role. My alternative? Alexander Ludwig.

5. Candy Land

For decades, kids (and lets face it, some adults) have dreamed that this board-game filled with ice cream blizzards, lollipop forests and licorice villains were real. Well, you're sweetest dreams are about to come true! A film is in the works and will be produced by Adam Sandler's production company, Happy Madison Productions. It has also landed Kevin Lima (Enchanted, Tarzan) as its director, and a script is in the works.

Title: Candy Land

Plot: Described as an adventure comedy.

Release Date: TBD.

Dream Casting: I'd love to see Seth Rogen as Gloppy the Chocolate Swamp Monster! And Jack McBrayer as Mr. Mint, or Quvenzhané Wallis as Princess Lolly would be a fun touch! What about Michael Fassbender as Lord Licorice? I think he'd make a great villain. Basically, I just hope they cast anyone but Adam Sandler.

6. Play-Doh

20th Century Fox will be the producer behind a live-action movie of your favorite doughy toy. With a finished script and Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, Spy, The Heat) onboard to direct, the film is coming together nicely.

Title: Play-Doh

Plot: Listed as a comedy.

Release Date: TBD (Rumors have it pegged for a 2018 release)

Dream Casting: Considering their past projects together, I'd love to see Melissa McCarthy team up with Paul Feig again for this film!

7. Monopoly

After decades of inciting living-room riots and turning family 'game-night' into 'all out' war, this fantastic board game is headed to the big-screen. With Andrew Niccol (The Truman Show, In Time, The Terminal) penning the script, the film is finally moving forward after being in a production slump since 2008.

Title: Monopoly

Plot: The movie will be about a boy, from the game's modest Baltic Avenue, on a quest to make a fortune.

Release Date: Rumored to be released late 2017.

Dream Casting: Stanley Tucci (Julie & Julia, Spotlight, The Hunger Games) as the monocled Monopoly Man!

8. Troll Dolls

This film is already in post-production and is ready to hit theaters this fall. The film will star the vocal talents of Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, James Corden, Gwen Steffani, Kunal Nayyar, and Russel Brand. Dreamworks is backing the project, with Mike Mitchell (The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water) directing.

Title: Trolls

Plot: (From IMdb) "Lovable and friendly, the trolls love to play around. But one day, a mysterious giant shows up to end the party."

Release Date: November 4th 2016

Dream Casting: Although it's irrelevant now, I would have loved to see Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect, How to be Single) lend her voice to a fluffy-haired troll.

Here's the trailer for the upcoming film!

Personally, I'm super excited for SOME of these films... I mean come on. A Play-Doh movie? YES PLEASE.

I'm not to thrilled about some though, (Ahem. I'm looking at you Barbie & Trolls).

What do you think? Should studios keep making toy-based films? Or should they keep their paws off your favorite toys? Let me know in the comments!
