There has been solid speculation surrounding an adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower for quite some time now. With snippets of information being floated around, Rolling Stone decided to take it upon themselves to wade through the haze and to get to the bottom of the potential show's progress.

Speaking to the author himself, the magazine found out some rather juicy details. King revealed:

“I think that it’s more likely than not that Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey will be in it but I can’t say with any certainty. I know that they’re trying to make deals with these actors [and] with Sony, and that’s the extent of my knowledge.”

Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, you say? Amazing!

The Dark Tower is a dark fantasy series that follows a 'gunslinger' and his life-long and perilous journey towards the tower, a quest to be accomplished all before evil invades and ends life as we know it.

What else do we know?

As it stands, not much. Yet it is common knowledge that the first installment of the series focuses on the first book and establishes the relationship between Roland and the young Jake Chambers.

Although much is still up in the air surrounding the project, it's clear that Sony Pictures and MRC are also co-financing the ambitious project. Stephen King is producing.
