Kris Jenner, the famous supermom at the head of the Kardashian empire, has recently trademarked the term "momager". This increasingly popular contraction of 'mom' and 'manager' describes, you guessed it, the moms behind their children's careers. If it's a dad you can say dadager, too. (Sistager? I'll stop.)
Kris is clearly enough reason for the word to exist: Keeping Up With The Kardashians is a brand in itself, and daughters Kim and Kendall went on to marry Kanye West and strut down the Victoria's Secret catwalk, respectively.
She's not the only mom behind a celebrity, though, so here are 5 other parents who we can more or less thank for their kid's rise to fame.
1. Inez Dunst and Kirsten Dunst
Even though Inez wasn't technically Kirsten's manager, she had her start her modeling career as a toddler on the book cover of 'Babysitter's Club' and took her to commercial auditions before she was even 5 years old.
2. Dina Lohan and Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay and Dina are probably one of the most controversial pairs of celebrities and their momagers, as Lindsay has repeatedly threatened to fire her mom for being unable to get her career back on track. Dina blamed her daughter for her poor choices, but fortunately for the family, Lindsay stated later on that her mom was her "best friend".
3. Mathew Knowles and Beyoncé
Did you know that it was Beyoncé's dad who was managing Destiny's Child before their contract with Columbia? He stayed on as Beyoncé's manager when she started a solo career, but she fired him in 2011, stating that "I've only parted ways with my father on a business level. He is my father for life, and I love my dad dearly." Surely it's not easy to tell your own dad that you're firing him.
4. Katherine Heigl and Nancy Heigl
The Grey's Anatomy actress and romantic comedy star has been working with her mom since her aunt sent pictures to a modeling agency when she was only 9 years old. But the two have been battling rumors that they are "difficult to work with", and the partnership might end as the actress attempts to give a new boost to her career.
5. Tish Cyrus and Miley Cyrus
We seem to hear a lot about Miley's relationship with her dad Billy Ray Cyrus, but it's actually Billy's wife Tish who manages the young pop star. The two have a very strong relationship, her mom supporting her since before she ditched her Hannah Montana locks and started gracing us with some less than Disney-appropriate outfits. Miley told MTV in 2013:
"My mom is my homey. If I win, she wins — not because she's my manager; because she's my mom."
