If we have learned anything from films such as You're Next (2013) and Would You Rather (2013), it's how quickly a pleasant dinner party can turn into a horrific nightmare. Drafthouse Films has just released a new trailer for The Invitation, which will be in select theaters on April 8th. The psychological thriller borders on unsettling horror as it follows a group of old friends, reunited for an out of the ordinary house party hosted by a relative stranger, and their friend who they haven't seen in two years. Check out the official synopsis from Drafthouse Films:

Will and Eden were once a loving couple. After a tragedy took their son, Eden disappeared. Two years later, out of the blue, she returns with a new husband… and as a different person, eerily changed and eager to reunite with her ex and those she left behind. Over the course of a dinner party in the house that was once his, the haunted Will is gripped by mounting evidence that Eden and her new friends have a mysterious and terrifying agenda. But can we trust Will's hold on reality? Or will he be the unwitting catalyst of the doom he senses? (Drafthouse).

With Michiel Huisman (The Age of Adaline) and Logan Marshall-Green (Prometheus) taking the lead, The Invitation already has a strong backbone. Karyn Kusama (Girlfight) is directing the film, with Phil Hay, and Matt Manfredi (Clash of the Titans) behind the screenplay. Quoted as being, "an excellent ensemble piece full of escalating dread" (Collider), this film is sure to unearth shocking revelations, and leave the audience stunned.
