Punky Brewster and Police Academy actor George Gaynes has died in Washington this Monday.
The 98-year-old veteran character actor and singer's daughter confirmed his death for the New York Times, but no cause of death has yet been noted.
Along with his roles as Henry Warnimont and Commandant Lassard, Gaynes also took turns in TV shows such as Matlock and General Hospital and movies such as 1994's Fantastic Four, The Numbers Game, and Wag the Dog along with many others.
The Finnish-born talent's varied career spanned five decades, and was also enriched with occasional stints in the theater and at the opera.
Gaynes retired in 2003, after appearing alongside Ashton Kutcher in Just Married. He is survived by his wife, daughter, granddaughter, and two great-granddaughters.
