The Rock thinks Deadpool is amazing (because who doesn't, let's be honest) and has congratulated the astronomical success of the sassy mouthed mutant after the film's multiple-record-breaking box office smash this weekend.

Grrr!
Grrr!

The wrestler-turned-actor, a.k.a. Dwayne Johnson, tweeted to his nine million followers:

Mr. Rock nods to how Deadpool’s R-rated success may mark the dawn of a new era of superhero films, in which comic book heroes don’t have to be mellowed for kids to ensure success.

The recent announcement that Wolverine's 2017 release will also be R-rated was probably nudged by the rewards of Deadpool's red-suited rudeness.

Deadpool shot to triumph of mythical scale almost overnight by hauling in $135 million in the US during its opening weekend.

It blasted these records apart:

  • Biggest R-rated opening weekend
  • Biggest Friday to Sunday opening weekend from a long weekend
  • Biggest 20th Century Fox debut ever
  • Biggest X-Men debut ever
  • Biggest R-rated comic book superhero movie ever

If you've been living under a rock (!) and have somehow missed the trailer here it is:

What other celebrities would you like to see congratulate 'Deadpool'?
