They spent Valentine's Day cozying up together in the picturesque Sedona, AZ, but could one of Vanessa Hudgens and Austin Butler's romantic declarations have landed them in serious trouble with the Arizona P.D.?
While the pair enjoyed a weekend away in the Red Rock Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest, they scratched their initials within a heart on one of the rocks — and are now being investigated for a federal offense, TMZ reports.
The rocks in question are, unfortunately for Hudgens, protected by federal law which prohibits anyone from "damaging natural surfaces or property of the United States." And yep, that includes globally famous superstars too. Whoops!
The above picture was posted to Instagram by Hudgens and prompted the investigation. It has since been deleted.
For regular humans, the penalty for such an offense is pretty harsh; either you're lumped with a $5k fine or ordered 6 months of jail time.
While it's very unlikely the young couple will spend time behind bars, no miss a couple of K's disappearing from their bank accounts, the embarrassment of this whole debacle should certainly make them think twice about sharing their public declarations on Instagram next time.
Have you ever shared something on social media and immediately regretted it?
