WARNING: Spoilers for 'The Walking Dead' ahead.

Sunday's mid-season premiere of Season 6b of The Walking Dead was definitely one of the best episodes of the entire series. The episode was jammed full of amazing moments, and chief among them has to be the scene involving the deaths of the Sam, Ron, and Jessie Anderson, and Carl Grimes's horrific injury. Re-live the tension and watch that scene again:

Right from the moment Sam started remembering Carol's words, we knew this wasn't going to end well.

"The monsters will come... and you won't be able to run away when they come for you... and they will tear you apart and eat you up all while you're still alive."

And soon enough it all got too much for Sam and he was preyed upon by the living dead.

And it wasn't long until a devastated Jessie was taken down as well.

Forcing Rick to save Carl's life by chopping off Jessie's hand.

Which didn't go down well with Ron, who was about to shoot Rick. Luckily Michonne had other plans for him.

Unfortunately, before he was shish kebab'd by Michonne, Ron managed to shoot once, missing Rick but clocking Carl straight in the eye

Wow, what a moment! In fact, the whole scene had moments lifted straight out of the comic series, and you can find my comparisons to those moments in an article over here.

While this incident is likely to have massive effects on Carl, Rick, and the whole of Alexandria in episodes and seasons to come, for now all we know is that Carl seems to be doing well in the infirmary, despite the loss of his eye, hopefully we find out more next week!

'The Walking Dead' returns with episode 10 will air on AMC on Sunday, February 21st.

What did you think of this dramatic scene?
