The Simpsons has been on air for over 27 years, which is more than enough time to accumulate a few records (it's the longest running animated TV series in the world, among other Guinness World Records achievements), and has featured an abundance of guest stars over the years (again, a record breaking number of over 700).
The recent announcement of The Simpsons's first ever live episode may have a few people scratching their heads and wondering if they've truly run out of ideas (most can agree that the show's decline can be traced back to season 12), but despite possibly being past its used-by date, The Simpsons have undoubtedly remained one of the most influential pop culture icons in the world, jam-packed with more great film references than seen in any other show.
Recognising this, Vimeo users Jesús Sahuquillo Olivares and Celia Gomez have created the mashup of all mashups, gathering together the many film references The Simpsons have used over the years and placing them side-by-side with their corresponding cartoon scenes. But just be warned, some of the source material is slightly NSFW.
The video doesn't include every film reference ever used on the show, but it does cover some of the greatest ones, including The Shining, Psycho, and 2001: A Space Odyssey. The video is a reminder that The Simpsons will always be regarded as one of the most innovative and cultured shows on television (at least, up until season 12).
