Fox revealed last Thursday that a live episode of The Simpsons is set to air for the first time. Only Homer Simpson will be front and center in the upcoming live episode in May. Dan Castellaneta as Homer, will be live for three minutes during the episode to talk about ongoing events and answer questions submitted by fans according to showrunner Al Jean on Twitter.

Since it's premiere in 1989, this will be the first time the show has even tried to create a live segment. Jean told The Hollywood Reporter that motion-capture technology will be used to create a "live" version of Homer Simpson for the audience. The live segment will be completely improvised according to Jean.

"As far as I Know, this is the first time that's been done by any animated show," Jean said. And Dan is a great improviser."

Fans of the show can tweet their questions for Homer to answer live using the hashtag from May 1st to 4th.

The Live episode of The Simpsons airs May 15th at 8p.m ET on Fox.
