Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is easily one of the most highly anticipated films to be hitting cinemas this year. Although there have been rumors swirling that Warner Bros. are worrying that the superhero showdown will be a flop, the general consensus online is that the film will be a hit. One thing's for sure, it's got that gritty, dark Zack Snyder aesthetic that we've become accustomed to.

Over the last couple of days we've been treated to a host of new official images. The new stills focus heavily on the Dark Knight, showing off his array of weapons, armor, new cowl and origin story. Although many fans are unhappy with the look of Doomsday, we can at least all agree that this will be one of the best looking Batman's we'll get to see on the big screen.

Ben Affleck was met with a barrage of hate when he was announced as the new Batman, but all those doubts were laid to rest well before we received our first trailer, courtesy of the below image.

Taken from a leaked companion book for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the images have given us some awesome new details... Including one startling revelation about Batman's long time butler, Alfred Pennyworth.

Y'see, according to the folks at WhatCulture, Alfred won't be a butler. Instead, this iteration of Alfred Pennyworth will be the bodyguard of Thomas and Martha Wayne.

Following the death of Bruce Wayne's parents, Alfred became the guardian of the young caped crusader and trusted confidant. After all the other staff were dismissed, Alfred too chose to leave, explaining why the mansion has fallen into a state of ruin. Instead, Alfred has opted to live in a 'comfortable trailer' on the grounds of Wayne manor.

Already a known major badass, Zack Snyder has taken it upon himself to increase the badassery of Alfred to new heights. In Batman v Superman, Alfred is allegedly a former SAS officer with experience in weapons, medicine, intelligence and vehicles.

Which will all come in handy to train a certain bat vigilante...

This of course would back up the comments that actor Jeremy Irons made when speaking to the Toronto Sun. Along with Zack Snyder hinting at a new version of Alfred, Irons seemingly confirmed that Alfred in Batman v Superman will be like nothing we've seen before.

"Zack Snyder, the director, wanted to create a completely different Alfred. So I felt like I didn’t have to carry any baggage from previous one’s. It’s sort of a reincarnation if you’d like. I had a feeling I was creating my own Alfred, more of a man who can actually do anything if he has to.”

So there we have it folks. Our favorite butler is no longer a butler, but now a fully fledged ex-SAS bodyguard for the Wayne family. Like all of you, I'm incredibly excited to see how Jeremy Irons carries himself in this new iteration of the classic DC character. From the small glimpses we've seen in the trailers, especially the most recent one where he controls the Batman's jet, it looks like Irons is going to perfectly fit the mould of this new Alfred Pennyworth.

Which leave us one remaining question... is it March 25 yet?
