In the latest episode of Arrow, 'Code of Silence', Oliver and the team prepare for his debate against Damien's wife Ruve, acts as if she has no ties to Darhk whatsoever. The team knows that there is something more to her running for Mayor and work to finding it out. When she leaves they trail her, but are ambushed by Damien's men. The team is able to defeat them, but Ruve gets away. She and Damien talk about what their next move should be as they go to meet the rest of their colleagues.Among them is Malcolm who has given Damien the idea to kidnap Oliver's son. Laurel visits her father and goes with him after he is called to investigate a crime. He and Laurel are nearly killed when the building starts to come down on them and they narrowly escape. The team tries to figure out why Damien is doing this. While Oliver and Felicity work with her mother to prepare for their engagement party, Thea comes by to tell Oliver about a woman their mother gave money to. Oliver tells Thea to drop it as he doesn't want her to know about William.Lance realizes that he must distance himself from Donna to ensure her safety after what happened and she doesn't take it well. Team Arrow arrives at another potential location that Damien might hit and collide with his Demolition Crew. They all barely escape, but not before Thea grabs the laptop they were using. While going over what to say at the debate, Thea tells Oliver that she knows about Sandra and his son William. She tells him to keep good on his promise to Sandra to keep William safe. He thanks her and then goes to meet with Diggle who has a lead on the Demolition Crew. The get there too late, but find that they have stolen acid from the factory. Just before the debate Felicity is contacted by Curtis, who had analyze the contents of the laptop, and he tells her that it had blue prints for another location the Crew would hit. Felicity tells Oliver and Thea that Damien is planning to destroy the building they are in. The evacuate everyone and rush to stop the drew from carrying out their plan. Team Arrow ultimately defeats the Demolition Crew and stop the bombs from going off. The team celebrates Oliver and Felicity engagement where Lance and Donna make up. Curtis arrives, and then reveals his wedding gift to Felicity. He had been working on a way to enable to walk again in the form of an implantable bio stimulant. Paired with the battery he had developed he tells her he had high hopes for it to work. Everyone is ecstatic to hear the good news. Damien has kidnapped William and plans to use him to draw Oliver out.
The fight scenes were on point as always. As long as we get to see the team take out the baddies, the episode is already considered a winner. Check out these notable scenes.
Demolition Crew: They looked cool, they fought cool, and they were totally our villains of the week. One was the master tech, another used a nail gun and the big one had a hammer. We were really hoping that they would have been a pretty OP crew that Team Arrow wouldn't be able to handle, but they were defeated in the end. Where does Damien get these people?
Team Arrow- With Thea now back to normal, the team was able to move forward with taking down Damien and Hive. However, they encountered a pretty skilled Demolition Team in the process. The team has really come a long way since the beginning of the season though, with Lance joining and Felicity back to being her badass self . All we need now is Mister Terrific. All in due time though.
Team Darhk- Damien was pretty busy keeping out of the light but in that time he's added Malcolm to his little team. I guess he needed him since he killed one of them off in this episode through a TV screen. This is definitely not someone Malcolm can risk turning on especially if he want to keep his other hand. We still need to talk about his grand plan, but that will be for another post. New Genesis. New Gods. Motherbox.
Oliver and Felicity- We love the lightheartedness these two bring to the table during these darhk times. No more whining or complaining that was nearly took over the last season. However, Oliver is a hero and heroes always keep secrets. We will have to see if their happy engagements last after Felicity finds out about his son.
Oliver and Thea- We wonder if he's gotten around to telling Thea about what went down between him and Malcolm. Everything seems to be back to normal for the two and Thea even finds out that she is an aunt. She and Oliver have a pretty emotional talk and it was definitely one that he needed. She understood Sandra's decision to not let William know he was his father. As hard as it may have been.
Oliver and Lance- These two have really come a long way. I mean Oliver did do some pretty horrible things to their family in the past, but now all of that is behind them. They even had some broments in this episode in regards to their love life and offered each other some advice. Hopefully things stay like this.
Oliver and Taiana- He redeemed himself to her and her friends by killing Conklin. Not sure yet where this is heading because she seems to just flip a switch and become a different person this episode. We will have to see what else she wants him to do next episode.
Oliver and Ruve- Oliver taunting her this entire episode was hilarious. He was able to own her on both the political battlefield and on the actual one. He has some serious balls to just go ahead and insult her like that, but it was beautiful. We can not wait to see what other snarky comments he's got to say to her. "Almost brought down the house. Almost."
Oliver and Reiter- We are all still wondering what it is that Reiter needs Oliver to help him look for. He mentioned something about the Gods and that Oliver was who he believed to be the chosen one to find the object of untold power.
Curtis and Felicity- Out of all the interactions this whole episode, this was the most TERRIFIC one. Curtis had a purpose behind his creations with his battery and a nifty little chip he hands over to Felicity. It is a implantable bio stimulant which could possibly get her to walk again. There were some manful tears shed. What a beautiful moment. Although he's only had appearances here and there, Curtis alwas manages to do something extraordinary. Make him part of Team Arrow will you.
Lance and Donna- I feel like she sort of over reacted a bit, but then again Lance wasn't straightforward with her. The broke up and made up all in the same episode. Lesson learned, don't keep secrets.
Laurel and Quentin- This family of alcoholics has finally worked their way back to being happy again. I guess they both finally found peace in their lives. Laurel in being the Black Canary and Lance helping out her team. Please for the love of god, no more drama for the Lance's.
Donna and Felicity- Felicity did a pretty nice thing for Lance in convincing her mom that what he was doing was to protect her. Their scenes together were pretty funny, but their heart to heart was all the feels.
News 52- Channel 52 as always!
Big Bad Wolf- They huffed and puffed and blew up the damn building.
Star Labs Shirt- Very cool shirt Felicity.
What's To Come/Theories:
Next week, Vixen is dropping into Star City to aid the team in battling Darhk and his army in a n episode called 'Taken'. It will be interesting to see how they portray her abilities and how much of a fight she can put up against Damien. Oliver also finds out that his son has been kidnapped by him and Felicity finds out the truth. We may have an answer as to who may be in the grave and that may very well be Sandra. We all know how each confrontation between the two always goes down, but I have a good feeling that they may actually hurt Damien and his organization this time around. Hopefully Oliver is able to save William before something bad really happens.
We sort of had some high hopes for the Demolition Team to be more of a threat, but it looks like they are a one and done situation. Damien has finally come out of the darhk and already his plan to bring down Oliver and his team in motion. With Malcolm there to bring him updates on what the Team Arrow is doing, they will have to bring in some extra fire power for sure. 'Code of Silence' was a pretty action packed, well written episode, but what stood out was Curtis's gift to Felicity. This episode gets a "Terrific" rating.
