It's funny how many times you watch a movie just to see a specific character in it. Usually it's not even the main character you're waiting to see. Co-stars and side characters can make or break a movie. Sure, the superhero is important to the plot, but it's the sidekick that makes you laugh and want to watch the movie!
I bet most people don't even realize they like a movie simply because of this one character in it. After I thought about that, I started thinking about some of my favorite side characters and realized that if these 7 characters weren't in their respective movies, I probably wouldn't love the movie as much as I do now. So, after giving it some thought, I've rounded up 7 characters that I believe totally made the movie!
1. Riley (National Treasure)
This guy is probably one of my favorite characters ever! He's absolutely hilarious and incredibly relatable. If Riley weren't in National Treasure, it would just be a guy and girl looking for a lost city of gold. Which...I guess is what it is now, but without Riley, it wouldn't be nearly as funny.
2. Minions (Despicable Me)
I'm happy DreamWorks gave the Minions their own movie because they're honestly the very best thing that's ever come out of DreamWorks period. Everything they do makes you laugh, even if it's not funny. You thought you liked Despicable Me, you don't, you just like the Minions.
3. Snoopy (Charlie Brown)
Snoopy is cool. That's really all I have to say about him. He's just awesome. The movie's called Charlie Brown, but you watch it to see Snoopy. If Charlie Brown didn't own the best dog ever, then he'd just be a bald-headed kid with a striped shirt.
4. Olaf (Frozen)
Everything about Olaf is wonderful! Despite how you feel about Frozen, you love Olaf even if you won't admit it. He knows what true love is and he likes warm hugs! What's not to like?
5. Brundon (Night At The Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian)
This guy may only be an extra, but his scene makes the entire movie! I'm not even really sure what makes his ruffle with Larry Daley so funny, but my family and I are constantly quoting lines from this scene at each other so he must've done something right. This guy right here, this guy is great.
6. Genie (Aladdin)
He really does make the movie though. Aladdin would be garbage without the Genie. Not just because Aladdin and his monkey would've died in the cave, but because Genie is the only character who makes anyone laugh in that movie. He is, in my opinion, Robin Williams' best role. After all, he does have phenomenal cosmic powers and itty bitty living space. He earned his place as Aladdin's best feature.
7. Mushu (Mulan)
Another Disney movie that would be nothing without this one character! Mushu is awesome and he gets forgotten because nobody likes his movie. Well, here's what I have to say about that...DISHONOR! Dishonor on you! Dishonor on your cow! Dishonor on your whole family! There, I said it.
