FINDING INSPIRATIONS

But wait! 15 seconds is not a long time! Here's a few tips: brush up on two-sentence horror stories, research 15 second horror films to see what's been done and not done, and to use cliches to your advantage.

Reddit's Two Sentence Horror section is a great resource to find inspirations.

"The last man on Earth sat alone in his room. Just then, there was a knock at the door."

Watch 15 Second Horror Film Challenge's first season to see for yourself what to do and maybe what not to do -- all of which will spark you on what YOU can do.

COUNTER CLICHES

Stronger 15 second horror films uses its first half to set up an expectation that will ultimately lead to a more grave discovery. One example is "The Killer in the Backseat" urban legend:

A woman is driven off the road by a maniac behind the wheel. After the maniac pulls her from her car, she discovers someone hiding in her backseat.

So cliches would have yet another maniac on the loose, but a clever spin reveals our maniac to actually be a hero trying to save her from a true unseen horror.

We're making a movie!

All you need is a thousand dollars and a Hollywood crew! NOPE. All you'll need is a good idea, counting what resources you have, maybe a friend or two, a means to record, and basic editing skills. Your iPhone alone comes with iMovie and GarageBand; a mini indie movie suite in your pocket!

Frugal filmmaker is a universal micro-budget filmmaking group. Indie filmmaking guru and Season 1 guest judge Darious J. Britt breaks down films and drops gems on how to write one minute or less short films!

Season 2's call for entries begins April 1st to October 24th! You can submit as many films as you wish and you retain full rights. Troma will induct this year's Top 10 into Troma history as well!
