Well, since X-Men Apocalypse came out, some people have given up on the franchise so much that they can't wait for a reboot. Specifically, in the hands of Marvel Studios. I do like the trailer, but it is a little underwhelming.
Fox's X-Men are infamous to some fans like black, leather, armoured suits and continuity/timeline issues. This is a day and age that people are finally accepting comic book costumes adapted on live action and they look back on the X-Men thinking "Why couldn't they get coloured costumes for once?" or "Bryan Singer. Just give up on the franchise and hand it to someone who accepts coloured costumes" and the quotes go on about how much some people hate the X-Men movies. Personally I do love the X-Men movies for their allusions for fighting for human/mutant rights. But there are times those movies can be executed a bit further.
In my opinion, I don't like the way some fans treat Fox's X-Men are utter garbage because it's not they way they envisioned it. Other than Blade or Spider-Man, the X-Men movies revolutionised the superhero genre. However, there are times I don't like the way Fox treats the X-Men because of their character's poor characterisations. Like Mystique being the centre figure of the X-Men, Cyclops poor leadership skills and lack of spotlight and so on. It made me want to do something other than boycotting Fox for deviating the source material.
I wanted to become an architect, but there are some times I wanted to become a writer/director (maybe)/concept artist for Marvel Studios. I've written this One Shot Plan as a way for me trying to get creative and build my writing skills. Build my confidence of letting other people read it. It's not perfect but it's enjoyable to write something like this. Hopefully at least half of your guys like this short plan I've written for fans. This is my first try of writing a plan of a story with existing characters. I would love to write up a published story if this receives mixed to positive reviews.
Marvel One-Shot Draft
“To Me, My X-Men”
It has been a year since Jean Grey died, the X-Men disassembled after the funeral, leaving only Professor X and Hank McCoy as the remaining staff of the Xavier Institute. The remaining students of the school felt grief, lost, and frightened as Professor X strolled past them. He froze for a second. His ears were ringing. His head was bouncing. As Hank finished off the new designs of the X-Men’s costumes, Professor X telepathically told Hank to turn on the TV, urgently. Senator Kelly face appears. A lot of cameras and news reporters closing up on him alongside Bolivar Trask, Warren Worthington II and Angel. Senator Kelly announced that he will bring back the Sentinel Program. This quickly shocked both Hank and Charles, demanded that the world needed the X-Men back.
Angel – Sitting next to his father, Warren II at the press conference as Senator Kelly announced the Sentinel Program. When the conference was over, Angel did not approve of what his father; Bolivar and Kelly are doing to the mutants. Even though his father is aware that Angel is a mutant himself, he threatens to cut Angel off if he ever joins any group that rebels against his father’s wishes. Angel heard and felt buzzing in his left pocket whilst his father’s not knowing it’s Professor X calling him. Angel excused by saying that a prep school need rebuilding and it requires his help. His father smirks and lets him go.
Iceman – He’s currently working as a certified public accountant. After having a laugh with the other staff members, he went inside his office as he heard buzzing coming from his desk. He walked inside the room, glared at the illuminating ‘X’ blinking like a time bomb. He’s surprised that Professor X wants him back. But no matter how happy he is right now with his new life as a normal citizen. No fighting against other mutants, nor fighting against mutant rights, nor seeing the second generation X-Men – he refuses to come back to help by freezing the device and dropped into ice shards.
Nightcrawler – He’s located at a church, secretly praying in German in his cloak where only yellow eyes enlightened in the pitch black interior. Through almost to the end of the prayer, his watch buzzed and blinked the illuminating, white ‘X’. He can hear the doors about to open – immediately teleports his way to the X-Mansion.
Storm – Currently back at Wakanda using her powers to help the village by pouring rain on crops and large bowls until a six Somali pirates terrorising the village. This immediately caught Storm’s attention. She levitated above the ground, clouds became greyer and they collide to Storm’s positions. Her blue eyes turned to pearls. She struck several lightning bolts to every Somali pirate’s position causing them to flee of Wakanda. The village cheered and chanted ‘Mother Nature’ in Afrikaans as Storm heard buzzing from her watch, glared at the blinking, illuminating X. She said, “It’s about time”.
Havok and Polaris – Currently engaged. As they were having dinner at a restaurant, their relationship started to get complicated because of Polaris’ mental health issues. As Havok argued with Polaris, they both saw the blinking X on their watches. They ignored it and they both decided to break up.
Kitty Pryde and Colossus – Located at a small cafe, currently starting to get to know each other. As the conversation is starting to go well, Kitty started to feel a little love-struck on Colossus’ appearance. He’s unaware of what Kitty is thinking and decided to show her some pictures he drew on his adventures with the X-Men. As she almost was on the page where Colossus drew a picture of her, her phone and his watch buzzed at the same time. They immediately got out of their seats, grabbed the sketchbook and walked to the X-Mansion.
Wolverine – Walked into a Japanese restaurant, holding a photo of him and Jean together. He grabbed a seat facing the sushi train. While he asked for some green tea, a waiter politely asked Logan to confront the three men that want to see him. The conversation was spoken in Japanese. Three men in different heights waited outside the restaurant looking for Wolverine, claimed that they owe one of them some money after a steel cage match, one time. After Wolverine cursed them to walk away, two men grabbed him by the shoulders, then Wolverine elbows, kicks and punch both of them, knocking them out cold and breaking their bones. One other guy lashes out his pistol, and then Wolverine breaks his wrist and shoves him to a wall as a resounding ‘snikt’ of two of his claws under the guy’s chin. After threatening him to retract his middle claw, responded that he owes nothing to him. Wolverine glares at his buzzing watch with the blinking, illuminating ‘X’. Wolverine said that this is the guy’s lucky day. He payed the tip to the Japanese waiter and walked out.
Cyclops – Suddenly the day is about to rain. Located at the cemetery still mourning of the death of Jean Grey. He ignored Professor X’s calls to come back to the X-Men and not even thinking of seeing anyone at all. Especially Wolverine who tries to steal Jean from him.
Angel, Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler and Wolverine came back to the X-Mansion individually. They have all welcomed Kitty Pryde as a new edition to the X-Men while Professor X promoted Storm as team leader. The remaining members were about to start Kitty’s training until Hank asked them to turn on the TV on Senator Kelly’s plan. Professor X warns them about the Sentinel will target at mutants if the program passes on. The team began to train Kitty to let her know what it means to be an X-Man.
Post credit – Mystique lines her Brotherhood of Evil Mutants including Rogue as she plotted to assassinate Senator Kelly which will demand citizens to pass the program immediately. This will lead to the story of X-Men: Days of Future Past where Sentinels rule the world in the future.
