WARNING: Possible spoilers for 'The Walking Dead' TV series ahead AND comic series. Proceed with caution!
When The Walking Dead returned with the second half of Season 6, it was immediately clear that the show wasn't fucking around in the slightest. After the annihilation of an entire bike gang and then an entire family, the guts were certainly flying.
But what about the remainder of Season 6? Who else could have their neck on the chopping block? Take a look at the five death predictions I've made, and then let me know in the comments section who you think is going to meet their maker by the time the credits role on the Season 6 finale.
Once again: Spoilers for both the TV series and comic series ahead.
1. Daryl Dixon
I'm going to get this one out of the way quickly: Season 6 could very well spell the character death we all dread — that of of Daryl.
Daryl has been with us since Season 1 and has dodged some incredible bullets and bites during that time. But I can't help but feel that his luck might be about to run out. Fans of the show will know that it's incredibly likely that the Season 6 finale will include the death of a main character at the hands of villain Negan, and despite the fact that in the comic series this character is Glenn, it could very well be Daryl.
Daryl isn't a character in the comic series and, because of that, it leaves him free to be inserted into storylines from the comic series at the writers' whim — such as the massacre of Negan's men, which in the comics was perpetrated by Rick, Michonne, Glenn and Andrea (who's still alive in the comics). In addition, given the fact that Glenn already dodged death this season, it would seem a little anticlimactic for him to then be killed off a few episodes later at the hands of Negan. But Daryl? What a devastating finale that would be.
2. Sergeant Abraham Ford
Abraham is without a doubt one of the more capable members of the group, always willing to lend a hand and never shying away from difficult work. In the beginning of Season 6 we finally saw his character development as he started learning to live with the ghosts of his past.
While I was almost certain we'd see Abraham's death in the midseason premiere, in the end he dodged that bullet (or rocket launcher, as it were) and managed to escape with his life. But will he always be so lucky? Fans of the comic series will be waiting with bated breath to find out if Abraham's TV storyline mirrors that of his comic arc. But unfortunately for that sergeant, I'm predicting there's a decent chance he'll be meeting his maker before Season 6 is out.
3. Spencer Monroe
Let's face it: Spencer is just a little bit useless. Following the death of his father and brother, instead of rallying like his mother Deanna, he hits the bottle and blames his mom for the demise of his family.
After making silly mistakes in Episode 7, "Heads Up" and needing to be saved by Rick, Tara, Tobin and Morgan, I can't help but feel that Spencer's time is extremely limited. When you add in the fact that Spencer's last remaining family member was recently killed, it seems like this dude might already have one foot in the grave.
4. Tara Chambler
Tara has been a part of the show for two seasons now, and in the last season she's really brought a lot to the group and become a great character. However, things seems to be going a little too well for Tara, and as you all know, when things are going well for a character in The Walking Dead, they tend to end up dead.
In addition to her character finding quite a happy ending with Dr. Denise, the actor who plays Tara, Alanna Masterson, was actually pregnant for the entire filming of Season 6 and recently gave birth to her first child. Could she have been given a quick exit from the show in her final stages of pregnancy?
5. Judith Grimes
I didn't really want to put this one in, but after the midseason premiere showed little Sam Anderson being torn limb from limb, maybe anything is possible. Judith is still a baby and has to rely on others to protect her. If she were left vulnerable she'd be an easy target.
Another thing that gives me reason to believe Judith's life could be on the line is the fact that in an interview with Andrew Lincoln (Rick) and Lauren Cohan (Maggie), both actors spoke about how intensely the finale affected the cast. Lincoln said reading the script for the finale made him "so angry and frustrated" that he felt sick to his stomach, while Cohan said it was the "hardest day on set that I've ever had in my life" and that it took a "really, really long time for everybody to feel OK again." Could this reaction have been because the finale involves the death of an innocent baby?
