It all began in 1977. Drawn from the paranormal experiences of the Lutz family, the original book The Amityville Horror by Jay Anson spawned a franchise of films that have frightened generations.

Amityville: The Awakening will be the fourteenth in line, following on from Amityville Playhouse, which was released last year. The movie will star Bella Thorne, Cameron Monaghan and Jennifer Jason Lee.

Just Moved In... What Could Go Wrong?

In The Awakening, an unsuspecting family move into a new, decrepit house in order to save money to put toward health costs for the son, who is a long term comatose patient.

Well, this is the Amityville House. What do you think is gonna happen? Bad things. Very bad things. Check out the trailer below:

The film is produced by Blumhouse Productions, owned by Jason Blum, who has high pedigree with his recent release Whiplash. Franck Khalfoun is taking the reigns and directing all the terrifying goings on.

The official synopsis is as follows:

"When strange phenomena begin to occur in the house including the miraculous recovery of her brother, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn't telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house."
