We've all been wondering — is The Hulk going to be in Captain America: Civil War or not? We're all hoping our favorite feisty green man (sorry, Mr. Grinch) would make an appearance, but several people involved in the film have denied the not-so-jolly green giant's appearance. He's been reported to be saved for Thor: Ragnarok.
However, Anthony Mackie uttered something that might be a little more telling than he meant it to be. While chatting on Radio 1's "Movies with Ali Plumb" podcast, he said:
“Having seen the movie, it’s Marvel’s best movie so far. And I’m being honest — if a Marvel movie sucks, a movie in the Marvel universe, I’ll tell you it sucked. 'Winter Soldier' and [the first] 'Iron Man' are probably Marvel’s two best movies, and I feel like [Civil War] beats both of those movies. It’s really, really good. It’s because it’s more of an acting movie than an action movie. I feel like the story is very concise and interesting, and you get to see Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans and Scarlett Johannson and Mark Ruffalo and everybody just do really, really good ACTING. And then there’s action in it. I think it might be the first superhero movie that might be up for Best Picture.”
So does that mean Mackie just confirmed Mark Ruffalo appearing in this film as Bruce Banner/The Hulk? The two never appeared in a scene together in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, so I don't see why his mention would be accidental in any way.
I guess we'll have to just wait until May 6 to see for ourselves. I'm hoping we at least get a glimpse of green.
