(Spoilers from here out)

I'm a big fan of the Merc with a mouth. Huge. I loved the fact that Reynolds showed that same love by bringing in all of our favorite co-characters from his long-standing career of poppin' caps and shooting jabs (verbally and physically).

From Weasel to Blind to Al, to Vanessa, and even (Hydra) Bob. But something was missing, or rather someone. A certain gray skinned bombshell...and no, it wasn't Mistress Death.

There is another article here on movie pilot speculating that Vanessa, Wade Wilsons girlfriend/nymphomaniac sex partner, is none other than Mistress Death.

While it was an interesting read, to be honest it felt like a stretch. I think it's far more likely that Vanessa is none other than-

Domino
Domino

For those who don't know, Domino isn't just a mutant. She's actually more like Wade than any other character in the Fox Film universe.

Domino started out at a young age as a test subject for the top secret government program, Project: Armageddon. Its directive was to create super soldiers with special abilities to work for the government as the perfect weapons. But the program was deemed a failure, all the other subjects died and the only one to survive was little Domino. Since the men in charge didn't believe her ability was usable. (We'll get to that ability in a minute.) she was dropped from the program, and a few years later moved on to become a top mercenary for hire.

Sound like anybody you know? Good. Now indulge me.

Exhibit A:

The Hair in her intro-scene

The hair
The hair

What's more iconic to the character of Domino other than her left eye and skin tone? Her short black hair.

I know what you're thinking "That's thin bruh, gotta give me more than that."

Say no more.

We also see her for the first time where? In a mercenary bar, the only woman there by the way. We're led to maybe think she's a hooker by her coming around as he pulls out his cash. But after a slap on the ass by fat Gandolf, we realize, damn, this girl can take care of herself. So to be clear.

  • She hangs out in a mercenary only bar.
  • She has short black hair in the beginning.
  • She has some kind of fighting ability, or at least the confidence to make us assume she does.

Exhibit B: Domino's special power (as promised)

An excerpt from Wikipedia on Domino's unique ability

Domino is a mutant with the ability to subconsciously and psionically initiate random telekinetic acts that affect probability in her favor by making improbable (but not impossible) things occur within her line of sight, thus causing her to have "good luck" and her opponents to have "bad luck." This "probability field" phenomenon can be anything from an enemy's equipment failure to hitting just the right switch with a stray shot to shut down an overloading nuclear reactor. The full extent of her powers is still unknown.
This subconsciously controlled talent is triggered when she is in a stressful situation (such as fighting or escaping). This effect constantly emanates from her body at all times and is completely subconscious. However, it is also largely participatory—in order for the luck to take effect, Domino herself must engage in an action whose chance she can affect.

Vanessa finds out Wade has cancer and suddenly an answer to her problems shows up in the form of a man in a black suit with a deal.

Not long before we see Vanessa pleading with the doctor beside Wade to come up with treatments of some kind, to save his life. Lucky thing, that...But let's ignore this one just for clean theories sake.

Let's instead jump forward to a certain hellicarrier that wasn't a hellicarrier.

Where she falls six stories yet doesn't get a scratch on her

In the scene above Deadpool put his girlfriend in a tube that he was in a few years ago (his time) to save her life as the ship capsized. Now granted that thing is durable...but how did she survive that fall? Just a little too lucky...almost like the odds weren't just in her favor, but put in her favor?

"Even still, how does she get powers all the sudden."

Good question, and it needs answering. So let's back-track.

The scene above was after an arc in the story where Vanessa is kidnapped by the very man who made Wade the Regenerative degenerate we all love.

Mr. Clean himself, Ajax

The same man who knows how to administer a cocktail that brings out latent mutant abilities.

In between the time of being kidnapped and Deadpool meeting up with them at the hellicarrier, we don't really know what happened. It's more than probable that she was given the cocktail not long after being taken.

I know what your thinking, Wade got his abilities after months of being put under heavy stress, how would she get hers in the span of a day?

When Wade is first strapped to a table by Angel Dust, Ajax tells him the process could happen in "A day, a week or it could take years."

Now you're saying, "ok you got me on that one, but what stress would trig-"

  • Being kidnapped
  • Her Boyfriend coming back from the dead.
  • watching her boyfriend get stabbed in the head.
  • Being thrown off a fucking hellicarrier.

Now that the story is out of the way, let's look at the greater picture; The business picture.

Fox is making an X-Force movie, no doubts about it. It's happening.

And Domino is front row on the test movie poster

In the comics Domino was a member of the team led by Cable, called Six Pack not long after her origin story and had a long standing relationship with that bordered on friend and lover.

Now back to the movies. Half of the entire film was geared around this girl and her life being precious. I doubt that Fox will just off her in the sequel which is guaranteed now, along with the inclusion of Cable thanks to the post-credits scene. I'm smelling a love triangle storyline in the near future.

So there you have it. The evidential theory that Vanessa is in fact, Domino.

Edit: Soome people have been saying that Vanessa is Definitely Copycat after a confirmation was made. The only confirmation I've found is this one:

Here

Now, if your reading that and looking at the tag on the instagram photo pasted by Rob Liefeld, you'll note the issue number he threw out was New Mutants #98. This just so happens to be the first appearance of Domino, not copycat, even though it was later revealed she was actually copycat pretending to be Domino.

At the least, we're about to see the merger of copycat and Domino in the sequel.
