For over twenty years now, Woody and Buzz have been an iconic part of our culture. As a kid of the '90s, the dynamic duo exemplified true friendship, not only for myself, but for millions of others as well. These 'toys' had an uncanny grasp on what it meant to be human. They felt our emotion in a way that made us laugh, cry, and most importantly, feel completely at home.

With this unquestionable emotional connection, combined with a box-office total of over 1.9 billion dollars, it's no wonder that these toys and their pals are getting another installment in their franchise. Here's four things you need to know about the upcoming film!

1. Rashida Jones Will Be A Part Of The Writing Team

Yep that's right folks. Parks & Recreation's Anne Perkins will be co-writing the Toy Story 4 screenplay. Director John Lasseter brought Jones and Will McCormack on board the project after seeing their work on the screenplay for an indie film, Celeste & Jesse Forever. Jones and McCormack will handle the bulk of the writing, fleshing out the original idea proposed by Pixar icons Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Lee Unkrich, and Pete Docter (a current Oscar nominee for his work on Inside Out.)

2. This Is Not A Cash Grab For Pixar.

Many Toy Story fans are worried that Pixar is stretching the franchise too thin. However, John Lasseter assures us that Toy Story 4 is happening because of a great idea, not because of financial success. In a recent interview, Lasseter stated:

"We love these characters so much; they are like family to us. We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before. ‘Toy Story 3’ ended Woody and Buzz’s story with Andy so perfectly that for a long time, we never even talked about doing another ‘Toy Story’ movie. But when Andrew, Pete, Lee and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie—and I wanted to direct it myself."

3. Plot Brings Back Bo-Peep.

Ever wonder what happened to Woody's love interest? In Toy Story 3 we hear that she has been given away, but to whom? Well, now we get to find out just where Bo-Peep and her sheep went to! According to a recent interview with the film's screenwriters, the movie will be centered around Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the gang, and their search for Bo-Peep. Also, the plot is said to delve into the love story between Woody and Bo. FINALLY.

4. The Cast: Who's Coming Back?

We know that even before a fourth installment was announced, both Tom Hanks and Tim Allen were eager to do another film as Woody and Buzz. So far the confirmed cast includes both Hanks and Allen, Joan Cusack (Jessie), Bonnie Hunt (Dolly), Annie Potts (Bo-Peep), Don Rickles and Estelle Harris (The Potato Heads), Jodi Benson (Barbie), and many others. Also joining the cast is recent Oscar winner, Patricia Arquette, in an unknown role. Fingers crossed that she plays a villain. Maybe a crazed doll holding Bo-Peep hostage? One can dream.

So there you have it! Toy Story 4 is happening! Are you excited?? Or should they have left well-enough alone? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
