Disney is remaking its 1977 live-action/animated musical Pete's Dragon. This time, we'll be getting a live-action/CGI movie in a similar vein to film adaptions like Alice In Wonderland and Cinderella.
This film will be written and directed by David Lowery, who directed Ain't Them Bodies Saints in 2013. The story will follow a young orphan named Pete and his dragon Elliott, who can turn invisible at will.
Bryce Dallas Howard is already attached to the script; she'll play a park ranger named Grace who stumbles upon Elliott in the woods. Robert Redford will play Grace's father and Oona Laurence will play Natalie, a girl who befriends Pete. Last but not least, Oakes Fegley has been casted as Pete.
With the trailer debuting this Sunday the 21st on ABC, we'll get our first glimpse at Elliott who was created by Weta Digital, the same company behind Smaug in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit.
Pete's Dragon is set to hit theaters on August 12. I now really wish I had a sweet, loving dragon who would cuddle with me.
