Heroes are the main focus of any game. People love heroes, but for heroes to be a hero, they need a villain. People do not like villains, but there are some villains that can be liked. Whether it be their diabolical plans, personality, or just how well known they are. They make the game worth playing so that you the hero; can beat the villain. With that said, here is a list of the Top 10 Nintendo Villains.

Number 10: WART

A big bad frog
A big bad frog

The reason why this is so low on the list is he had minor appearances Nintendo games. His first game being his biggest appearance. Wart is an enemy that first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 2. This was not originally a Mario game. It was first called Doki Doki Panic in Japan. When it was ported over to the United States, it was changed to Super Mario Bros. 2. It kept the same gameplay with a few changes. Wart is an evil frog. He uses a Dream Machine along with his cronies to take over Subcon. It is up to Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad to defeat Wart and save the day. You could play as anyone of the aforementioned characters to play the game and defeat Wart.

Number 9: Andross

Some weird looking dude
Some weird looking dude

This is low on the list because I know very little about him. He is Fox McCloud's villain from the StarFox series. His first appearance is in the very first StarFox game. He has taken the form of a polygon face, a monkey face, and that weird thing you see above you. He is a mad scientist who specializes in technology, telekinesis, and tactics. He has tried to take over The Lylat System many times, but Fox and the gang have always ruined his fun.

Number 8: Meta Knight

One fast dude
One fast dude

Meta Knight is one of Kirby's main villains. He debuted in Kirby's Adventure as a boss. Meta Knight is rarely seen without his mask. All you can see is his glowing yellow eyes on a black background. This makes you think is he just like Kirby under his mask, just black in color? He is a quick swordsman who can teleport to avoid damage. He can spin like a tornado and use fast sword swipes to hurt Kirby. He can use his wings to fly for long distances. All of this is still not good enough to befall Kirby. In the end he always loses to Kirby. His speed makes him a tough character to beat in the Smash Bros. series, but he is fun to play and defeat.

Number 7: King Dedede

One big penguin
One big penguin

King Dedede is a big penguin-like enemy of Kirby. He carries a hammer that he uses to hurt Kirby. He wears a red cape and a red hat. He wears yellow and red shorts as well. Even though he is one of Kirby's main enemies, he has been seen being buddy buddy with Kirby in some games. Dark Matter takes over his body and turns him evil. He is basically controlled by an evil force. This does not make him weak as a villain. He wants to hurt Kirby, not kill him. Like Kirby, he can hover in the air for a short duration. He can also, swallow his victims and spit them out like Kirby can. He takes the 8th place because while a good villain, there are better villains in the Nintendo world.

Number 6: Dr. Eggman/Dr. Robotnik

Evil Scientist
Evil Scientist

Dr. Eggman as he is known in Japan and Dr. Robotnik as he is known in the United States. His first name is Ivo. His grandfather is named Gerald. He crated Shadow the Hedgehog, a dark version of Sonic. He died, and Dr. "Ivo" Eggman/Robotnik takes over his legacy. He is Sonic the Hedgehog's main villain. He first appeared in the very first Sonic the Hedgehog game. While he can be known as Dr, Robotnik, all current and past Sonic game refer to him as Dr. Eggman based on his body shape. He is a genius with an IQ of 300. His main mission is to take over the world and build a Robot Empire. While fighting Sonic he uses a multitude of machines to defeat Sonic. Sonic always has the upper hand and all of his machines get destroyed.

Number 5: Ridley

Flying evil
Flying evil

Ridley is Samus's main villain in the Metroid series. His first appearance was in the original Metroid game. He is an aggressive villain who takes pleasure in killing those who he does not like. He also has another form called Meta Ridley. He can fly around and dodge Samus's arm cannon blasts. Even though he is so big and formidable, Samus always defeats him, but Ridley will never stop trying to kill Samus.

Number 4: Gruntilda

What a Witch
What a Witch

I know what you are thinking, "Rare is now with Nintendo anymore, she is not a Nintendo villain!" She once was a Nintendo villain before Rare bought Microsoft, so I think it counts. Gruntilda Winkybunion, also known as Grunty, is the main enemy of Banjo and Kazooie. She first appeared in Banjo-Kazooie. In this game she kidnapped Banjo's sister Tooty. Her goal is to steal her good looks and make her beautiful. She is a witch who flies on a broom, fire spells and summons statues. In her first game, Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo the Honey Bear and Kazooie the Breegull must defeat her in many stages. First she flies on her broom and when it stalls, Banjo and Kazooie peck her in the butt. In the second stage she flies a distance from her tower and Banjo and Kazooie stand on the tops of the castle and fires blue eggs at her. In the third stage she takes to the air and Banjo and Kazooie must fly around and Beak Bomb her. In the fourth stage, she creates a shield around her. She summons five Jinjo Statues. Banjo and Kazooie fire eggs in a hole on the front while avoid fireballs being thrown at them. Once enough are in, the Jinjo comes to life and launches into Grunty. That goes through the shield and damages her. In the final stage, she summons a large Jinjo statue called the Jinjonator. It is the exact same style as the previous stage, but there are holes on all four sides of the statue. This time Grunty fires a homing spell that can be avoided by using the Wondering or Gold Feathers. These make the duo invincible. When all four holes are closed, all of the Jinjos give power to the Jinjonator and it flies in circles before pounding Grunty with a devastating missile attack. That sends her falling from her tower, where the battle take place and she falls in the ground being buried by the rubble. In Banjo Tooie, she is all bones and her plan is to such the Life Force from all living things. This will get her body back. This never comes to fruition, so she uses her sister's digging machine to defat the bear and bird. The final fight takes place at the top of her new tower and goes through many more stages than the first game. Look up some videos to see both battles. There are a couple more Banjo-Kazooie games but the first two are the best.

Number 3: KING K. ROOL

King Croc
King Croc

King K. Rool is the main villain of Donkey Kong and his crew. He is a evil reptile who is the leader of the Kremlings. Thought his reign, he has been a king, a captain, and a boxer. He goal is the same, to crush Donkey Kong and his friends by destroying DK Isle. He made his appearance in Donkey Kong Country where you fought him on a ship using Donkey Kong and his nephew Diddy. In Donkey Kong Country 2, he kidnaps Donkey Kong. Diddy and his girlfriend Dixie try to save him. The final fight is fought in his airship. In Donkey Kong Country 3, K. Rool kidnaps Donkey and Diddy Kong. It is up to Dixie and Kiddy, a child like kong, to defeat him. They fight him in his castle, where he uses a helicopter suit to beat the kongs. The two kongs best Baron Von K.Roolenstein, as he is known in the game. In Donkey Kong 64, he is called King Krushaaa K.Rool. He is a boxer and five Kongs fight him. They are Donkey Kong, Diddy, Tiny, Lanky, and Chunky. Donkey Kong must use barrel cannons to hit K.Rool in the belt. Diddy fires at targets on the overhead lights, so that they fall on his head. Still with the light fixture on his head, Lanky must hit numbered buttons with his long reach to generate Trombone Tremor Pads. A giant banana peel is placed in the ring. Using the pads, Lanky must use the sound of the trombone to get K. Rool to slip on the banana peel so he falls. Tiny must shrink herself and go in the hole on his shoe and fire her feather bow at his toes. Finally, Chunky grows big and must punch K.Rool with good timing as he charges at him. For the last hit, he changes his pattern and when K.Rool gets close, Chunky delivers the final blow. All is not over, K.Rool begins to get up. As he does Funky Kong uses one of his inventions to send him through the roof.

Number 2: Gannondorf

That evil man
That evil man

Gannondorf is the main villain in the Zelda series. He despises Link and is a master swordsman. He can form into a beast, a snake, and other forms. Link must use a variety of tactics to defat him. He has faced Link many times, all of these winding up where he loses. Of course he kidnaps Zelda, but when it comes to the final battle, Zelda provides the power of light, so that Link can best him. Using Light arrows as the power to destroy his dark powers, Link can truly defeat Gannondorf. The only weapon that hurts him is The Master Sword or the Megaton Hammer in Ocarina of Time in one stage. The final blow is always straight to the head. If you have not seen any of these fights or watch them or play the games. They are worth the money.

and now for the moment you have been waiting for... NUMBER 1!!!

NUMBER 1: KING BOWSER

The King Koopa
The King Koopa

I am sure you saw this coming, but you cannot deny that Bowser is the best villain in the Nintendo franchise. Of course this is Mario's enemy. He has been in countless fights with Bowser and Mario wins them all. Even when things looked bad, like in the beginning of Paper Mario, if you have played it, you know what I mean. Mario always finds a way to beat Bowser. What makes this guy so good? He is the King of all Koopas and the leader of a vast amounts of troops at his disposal. Even though he has troops that can damage Mario, they are still not good enough to beat this plumber. Even in the first fight in Super Mario Bros, just one jump makes him take a bath in the lava. He has been in many fights using many strategies. From trying to flatten Mario or just breathing fire on him, he just cannot beat Mario. He has been dipped in lava, blown up, fallen down chasms, knocked into orbit, and many other punishments. He even has kids that he sends out to defeat Mario. Despite all of this, he still comes back to try and kill Mario. he will never give up. This is why Bowser is the best Nintendo villain of all time.

Thanks for reading my list and I hope you enjoy! What are some of your favorite villains in Nintendo?
