My Little Pony is an upcoming 2017 Canadian–American animated musical fantasy film based on the Hasbro toy line of the same name and the 2010 television series My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic developed by Lauren Faust. The film is Hasbro's first animated feature film from its Allspark Pictures studio. In addition to the main voice cast reprising their respective roles from the show, the film will include actresses Kristin Chenoweth and Emily Blunt voicing new characters. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 3, 2017 in the United States and Canada.[2]

The film concerns the "Mane Six" ponies—Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, and Rarity—journeying beyond Equestria to stop a threat looming over their hometown of Ponyville.[3]

The film was first announced on October 20, 2014 by Variety. Originally, Joe Ballarini was announced as the writer, and Friendship Is Magic and Equestria Girls writer Meghan McCarthy acting as co-executive producer.[5] At PonyCon AU in late-February 2015, in Australia, some production staff hinted it would not be related to Equestria Girls and that they are making an effort for the film not to feel like an extended episode.[6] On August 7, 2015, Lionsgate announced that they would distribute the film worldwide, except China, and that the main cast from the animated TV series would be reprising their roles along with Kristin Chenoweth as an original character.[1] On February 12, 2016, it was announced that British actress Emily Blunt joined the cast.Daniel Ingram, composer and lyricist of the television series' songs, confirmed that he would be working with a live orchestra on the film's musical score and songs.[7] Former series orchestrator Steffan Andrews also stated he was working on the film.[8]

The film is set for a theatrical release on November 3, 2017.[2]
