One thing CBS likes to do with its superhero show Supergirl, is release a short clip ahead of the day it comes out. Just to give you an idea of what's going to happen.

In the newest episode titled, 'Truth, Justice and the American Way' we see that Supergirl will be going up against the Master Jailer, who's killing the aliens he kidnaps. In one of the sneak peaks we got, a line of dialogue hints at one of DC's most brutal characters, or at the very least his existence. That is of course the main man Lobo.

The credit going to Bleeding Cool for noticing this. You see Alex get frightened when Hank mentions an interstellar bounty hunter, and how they refer to the bounty hunter as "him", you can guess that it is most likely Lobo.

Who is Lobo?

Lobo is a cosmic bounty hunter and mercenary, and the last of an alien race called the Czarnians. He's the last, because he killed off his entire race. Soon after that he started collecting bounties across the universe, going up against his fair share of heroes along the way. Despite his ruthless nature, he holds a code of honor to these agreements. Some of his abilities also consist of:

  • Superhuman Strength
  • Immortality
  • Superhuman Speed
  • Genius Level Intellect
  • Multilingualism
  • Expert Fighter
  • Regeneration

He became extremely popular as an antihero in the '90s, being depicted as a ruthless biker with some colorful catchphrases. Later on in the New 52 his look was changed as seen above to look more modern.

The one thing that has me scratching my head, is the fact that Lobo is a very tough and unforgiving character, and I'm not entirely sure he would work in the setting of the Supergirl show. Though the series has been introducing the lesser known characters like Martian Manhunter, Red Tornado, etc. So they might go with, or at the very least acknowledge his existence from time to time. I guess only time will tell.

Supergirl airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
