This May, we see the return of the X-Men in [X-Men: Apocalypse](tag:1194267), the highly anticipated sequel to [X-Men: Days Of Future Past](tag:203942). The sequel brings back fan favorites like Professor X, Magneto, Mystique, Beast and Quicksilver, while introducing characters like Cyclops, Jean, Storm, Psylocke, and Nightcrawler.

Like every apocalypse, something must fall in order for a world to start anew. Clearly, not every character will survive. Numerous of our beloved mutants will likely fall and lose their lives in this movie. Kind of makes you want it to happen a bit later, doesn't it?

I took a close look at each character, and here are the odds each person has for survival...

1. Charles Xavier / Professor X (James McAvoy)

Chances of survival: Very high

What are the X-Men without Professor X? Overlooking Wolverine, the Professor is the face of the mutant team. He may not be able to walk, but he is a very confident character who is truly the heart of the X-Men. Actor James McAvoy seems very dedicated to his role, devoting much of his career to being the Professor, and even shaving his head bald. He probably has no plans to go anywhere after this movie.

The big drawing point in Xavier's survival, though, was the reference to him in Deadpool. At one point in the film, Colossus says he is taking Deadpool "to the Professor." Deadpool takes place on the same timeline as Apocalypse, but just lies a few years ahead. Clearly the Professor must survive this movie in order to be alive during Deadpool. Unless, of course, they kill him and then bring him back, but last time they killed the Professor, fans rioted.

2. Erik Lensherr / Magneto (Michael Fassbender)

Chances of survival: Fair

Actor Michael Fassbender has been a heartthrob for many fans currently interested in the X-Men series. In fact, he is often the drawing point for female teen audiences simply because of how dreamy the actor appears. In addition to that, Magneto is a beloved X-Men character who has been in all but one of the X-Men movies.

However, the sudden death of a legend like Magneto might be an enormous part of the plot of the film, creating the sudden shock that no one is immortal. Since Magneto is siding with the enemy, though, this may not be a problem. But, Fassbender is a very expensive actor who is getting a lot of big roles lately. Perhaps Apocalypse will be Fassbender's swan song if FOX couldn't whip up the dough to keep him.

3. Raven / Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence)

Chances of survival: Very low

When Jennifer Lawrence first signed her contract for the X-Men franchise, she was not the most well known actress. Now that she is one of Hollywood's biggest names, Lawrence is very keen to finish the contract and leave. Unfortunately for us, that contract ends with X-Men: Apocalypse.

As much as I hate to say it, they will likely kill of Mystique in the movie to explain her absence in future films. The only other route FOX could take would be to recast Mystique, which could work since she can shape-shift. However, that would just not be the same, and would be an enormous risk on their part. It's a lot easier for them to just kill the character off.

4. Jean Grey (Sophie Turner)

Chances of survival: High

As a member of the new generation of mutants, Jean Grey has a good chance of surviving this movie. I'm sure FOX is very keen to get Jean's character right this time around, and that won't be possible if they kill her off immediately.

Like all the characters, there is a chance that Jean may not make it out. Like the others, Jean's death may be part of a shock factor for the audience, but I highly doubt they will kill her off this early. I, like many other fans, hope that FOX follows the Phoenix saga with Jean, which would require her to be around for quite a bit longer. Plus she was alive during the ending of Days of Future Past, so there's that too.

5. Hank McCoy / Beast (Nicholas Hoult)

Chances of survival: Low

Like Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult is finally starting to be recognized in Hollywood, and, also like Lawrence, his contract ends with Apocalypse. What does this mean? It means that Hoult will most likely not renew his contract, thus Apocalypse will be his final movie.

To be frank, Beast is not the most beloved character of the franchise, especially his most recent form. However, at the end of X-Men: Days of Future Past, we witnessed Beast walking the halls, clearly alive. The events of Apocalypse, though, may rupture this timeline, thus allowing the story to be able to move without these barriers.

6. Peter / Quicksilver (Evan Peters)

Chances of survival: Fair

Though he only played a limited role in the previous movie, Quicksilver is returning for X-Men: Apocalypse - reportedly for even less time. According to director Bryan Singer, Quicksilver only has about 3 minutes of screen time. So unless En-Sabah-Nur manages to kill Quicksilver during this short time frame, Quicksilver may manage to speed away for his own survival.

Perhaps, though, Quicksilver's screen time is this short because he is suddenly killed? As he is not the biggest character, this could actually make sense. Quicksilver's fate could really go either way, as we saw in Avengers: Age of Ultron, so for now, Quicksilver has about a 50/50 chance of survival in this film.

7. Scott Summers / Cyclops (Tye Sheridan)

Chances of survival: Very high

Like Jean, Cyclops is a member of the new generation of mutants, who FOX is sure to expand upon in later films. That and his appearance during Days of Future Past (which, as I mentioned, may or may not be the same time line after this movie) almost confirm Scott Summers will survive.

The point that really does confirm his survival, though, is the fact that Cable is confirmed to appear in Deadpool 2. As some fans will know, Cable is the son of Cyclops. Unless Cyclops has already had a kid at this point (which I highly doubt), Scott has to survive this movie.

8. Ororo Munroe / Storm (Alexandra Shipp)

Chances of survival: High

Storm has a rather good chance of surviving this film for the same reason as Jean and Cyclops - she is part of the new mutant generation. Surely she must survive this movie in order to add a larger cast to later films.

When it comes down to it, I highly doubt they will kill Storm off this early for one reason alone - she is an antagonist during Apocalypse. This differs from the comic book Storm who is almost always the hero. Clearly, on-screen Storm is having a rough start to her career and will eventually follow the path of good. FOX is sure not to interrupt this path by killing her off before she even gets the chance to pursue being a hero.

9. Kurt Wagner / Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee)

Chances of survival: Fair

Like the rest of the new generation of mutants, Nightcrawler should have a good chance at surviving. He is new and will most likely add to the later films as a regular cast member. After his character was consistently overlooked during the first X-Men trilogy, I'm sure FOX is looking to redeem themselves.

However, as I'm sure we can all admit, Nightcrawler is not the most beloved of all characters. He does not sell tickets as well as characters like Wolverine, Magneto or Storm. Perhaps FOX is once again looking to use Nightcrawler as a one-time character by sacrificing him off during the film. We will just have to wait and see with this guy.

10. Alex Summers / Havok (Lucas Till)

Chances of survival: Low

Originally appearing back in X-Men: First Class, Havok is not presumed to play a large role in this film. We only saw the character briefly during the trailer for Apocalypse and we will undoubtedly see more of his presumed son, Scott (Cyclops), during the movie than Alex himself.

The reason for his absence? Perhaps Havok is the first to take the fall at the hands of En-Sabah-Nur. His death would not only influence Professor X to take a stand against the villain, but it would also influence Scott Summers himself to join the X-Men in order to avenge his "father's" death.

11. Jubilation Lee / Jubilee (Lana Condor)

Chances of survival: Very high

From what we can gather, Jubilee does not play a very large role during X-Men Apocalypse. Though she does not play a huge role, we do get to see her abilities, according to James McAvoy.

My guess is that they are treating Jubilee like they are treating Aquaman in Batman v. Superman - they are simply using her to set up the new team in the sequel. With this in mind, Jubilee's chances of surviving this movie are very high.

12. Warren Worthington III / Angel (Ben Hardy)

Chances of survival: Fair

Angel's rebooted form in X-Men: Apocalypse takes the darker, almost Archangel, form of the character as he is a follower of En-Sabah-Nur. This position puts him in quite a bit of danger, as he is a target of our heroes, but also may protect him as he is aligned with the most powerful character.

Though he is the a member of the new generation of mutants, Angel, like Nightcrawler, is not the most beloved on screen. Based on this fact, Angel has just about the same chances of surviving as Nightcrawler, which is basically a 50/50 bet based on how the writers were feeling that day.

13. Betsy Braddock / Psylocke (Olivia Munn)

Chances of survival: Low

That's right! We are finally getting Psylocke in a movie! How exciting! But don't get too excited, because I don't predict she will last that long. As exciting as the character may be, Psylocke does not have the same amount of character development as the rest of En-Sabah-Nur's other four horseman. What do I mean by that? I mean that Magneto, Storm and Angel all have stories to pursue after En-Sabah-Nur's downfall, but I don't really see Psylocke going anywhere else.

When it comes down to it, Olivia Munn is an extremely expensive actress. FOX may not want to keep her for more than one film, like many other big named actors throughout the franchise. Because of this, Psylocke will most likely bite the dust towards the end of the film, most likely as a self-sacrifice in order to truly take down En-Sabah-Nur at the end of the movie.

Though these predictions may be well thought out, I may be totally off. Perhaps Professor X and Cyclops die, and Mystique and Psylocke take over the X-Men. Who knows? However, based on what we know from the film so far, this is the best prediciton we can get.

I, for one, am very excited to see X-Men: Apocalypse this May. I look forward to seeing how well some of our favorite characters work out once they are rebooted into a more comic accurate form.

What do you think, though? Let me know in the comments, and thanks for reading!
