Everyone's favorite nerd-filled show has reached a milestone 200 episodes and to celebrate that fact The Big Bang Theory now has an official celebratory day! Well, at least it does if you live in Pasadena.
Pasadena, CA has provided BBT's fictional setting for the past nine seasons and, in honor of this, the city has awarded the TV show with February 25, 2016 — now known as 'The Big Bang Theory Day.'
The show's executive producers Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, and Bill Prady commented in an official statement:
For 200 episodes, The Big Bang Theory has called Pasadena home. Even though we tape the show just down the road at Warner Bros., we’re honored that the city of Pasadena, which has given so much to our characters and our stories, has once again proved itself to be a true inspiration.
Pasadena Council member Andy Wilson thanked the show for its highlighting of the city's cultural offerings, and revealed the crowning on behalf of their mayor.
Now, Therefore I, Terry Tornek, Mayor of Pasadena, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby congratulate and commend the cast, producers and crew of The Big Bang Theory, and proclaim February 25, 2016, in the City of Pasadena as The Big Bang Theory Day.
So, if you happen to be within the Pasadena city limits in three days' time, here are four ways you could celebrate The Big Bang Theory Day.
1. Fancy Dress Party
First port of call should always be a fancy dress party — themes should be The Big Bang Theory characters or associated geekery (see Star Trek for inspiration). There can be themed snacks and cocktails (I'm thinking something along the lines of a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster or Bantha Milk), appropriate background music, and even a trophy for the best geeky costume.
Friends should be reminded to turn up early to avoid this type of scenario:
2. A good game of ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS, LIZARD, SPOCK!
I'll leave the explanation of this one up to Sheldon:
"It's very simple. Scissors cuts paper. Paper covers rock. Rock crushes lizard. Lizard poisons Spock. Spock smashes scissors. Scissors decapitates lizard. Lizard eats paper. Paper disproves Spock. Spock vaporizes rock. And as it always has, rock crushes scissors."
3. Get a LEGO-ver
All you need is LEGO and a Wolowitz-esque filthy mind for this little challenge. Your quest? To see who can build the dirtiest LEGO creation. On your marks, get set... go!
4. The Big Bang Theory Drinking Game
This basically involves watching the show while simultaneously getting utterly wrecked. The list of rules is fairly extensive, but let's just say you have to have one drink every time 'Sheldon says something grossly inappropriate,' two drinks every time 'Sheldon misunderstands sarcasm,' and three every time there's a 'Celebrity cameo.' So obviously getting totally twozzled doesn't take very long.
How will you celebrate 'The Big Bang Theory Day'?
