Hey there, Pilots! All superhero fans are in for a real treat, as director Zack Snyder posted an image of the progress in the Justice League pre-production!
Just revealed in the new Entertainment Weekly issue was the shoot date for the highly-anticipated action-adventure DC film from Warner Bros.: April 11, 2016. It looks like all the props and costumes are almost ready, as you can see in the picture.
It's been almost a year since Snyder set the Internet on fire with the first 'Unite the Seven' Aquaman picture featuring Jason Momoa, and now the Justice League is even closer to the big screen – you'll be able to see at least half of the World's Greatest Superheroes in this year's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Looking closely at the image, you will find some exciting things standing in the background. There's Aquaman, Flash, Batman's cowl, a boot, a helmet, art of Mera, and many other props and costumes. A big one is that big shiny black suit behind Zack Snyder.
So I know what you're probably thinking: What exactly is it? To that, I do not have any official answer. Fortunately, I have a few guesses and plethora of fan edits of the image.
It's a black skin suit with no cowl, so it is easy to see why this would be Dick Grayson's crime-fighting costume. If it is his suit, all they have to do is add the logo and announce the actor.
Though it would be an amazing Nightwing suit, why would it be made for the Justice League film? Dick Grayson is a huge DC character, but seldom is he a main character in a Justice League story. One of the few times he was a protagonist of Justice League in the comics was when he temporarily became Batman when Bruce Wayne "died." I sense that's not the case, as Affleck is definitely going to reprise his role as the Caped Crusader.
This is the man that Aquaman hates the most. He indirectly killed Arthur Curry's (Aquaman's real name) father when he invaded their home at the lighthouse and caused him to have a heart attack. For years, the two have fought and somehow, they have not killed each other yet.
We do not have any official word on who will be the threat in the Justice League film, but the presence of Aquaman, Mera, and possibly more Atlanteans could be hinting at the team dealing with the underwater civilization and the rest of Aquaman's mythos. The inclusion of Black Manta would be natural in this case.
Now let's move onto the Justice League members. Could this be an unfinished Green Lantern suit? It definitely could, as the torso could be made green and they could add gloves. Or just use the magic of CGI.
The shoulder parts of the costume are similar to that of the 'New 52' version, so it absolutely is possible. Plus, if you look at the original image of the black suit, there seems to be a faint circle in the middle where the iconic Green Lantern logo would go. If it's not Green Lantern, it's extremely possible it could be the other Justice League member we haven't seen.
The only glimpse of the Cyborg from the DC Films has been in the concept art, which looks similar to the black suit in the behind-the-scenes image. Of course, the suit is a base layer, simply unfinished, or CGI is to be added.
Ray Fisher, the actor set to play Victor Stone/Cyborg, is 6'3". In Zack Snyder's image, the black costume is placed to the right of the Aquaman costume, which is designed for Jason Momoa, who stands at 6'4". The suit is raised and if lowered it would probably be slightly shorter than the Aquaman.
In addition, grouping the Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg costumes together in that area makes sense, since they are the next batch of the superheroes to be seen on the big screen.
Zack Snyder has seen the three of them in costume tests, according to the USA Today article about the DC Extended Universe.
“I love Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman, but having Flash and Aquaman and Cyborg and to see them all standing together, it’s a pretty dorky and cool experience for me,” says Snyder, who’s introducing some of his new Leaguers in Dawn of Justice.
If he could drop a picture of them as soon as possible, that would be great.
I'm hoping the mystery suit turns out to be Cyborg's, but if not him or the other three, there are still more possibilities.
More Heroes and More Villains
Here are all of the very unlikely choices. There definitely is a possibility of characters receiving new costumes or these new characters coming the the DCEU.
- Atlantean soldier
- Steve Trevor
- Martian Manhunter
- Jason Todd
I highly doubt the last few, especially the last one...
That concludes my list of the many possibilities. Now here's your chance to let your voice be heard!
Which DC character could this mystery Justice League suit belong to?
