Ferris Bueller's Day off is turning 30 this year and to celebrate, the movie is getting its own festival!
The festival, dubbed "Ferris Fest," is going to be held in Lake Forest, Illinois this year (2016) from Friday, May 20th to Sunday, May 22nd. The official website of Ferris Fest describes the event as follows:
2016 marks the 30th anniversary of FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF, released in theatres on June 11, 1986. And to celebrate this milestone in the same city where Ferris, Sloane and Cameron ditched school and decided to live a little couldn't be any more choice!
That's why we, a few passionate fans of this iconic movie, have decided to put together a special weekend event that will feature a screening of the film in a uniquely John Hughes-centric spot with its stars in attendance for a special Q&A, a tour of all the filming locations, musical guests and more!
The film screening will be on Saturday, May 21st at the John and Nancy Hughes Theater in Lake Forest, Illinois. The event will be hosted by Chicago film critic Richard Roeper and as of now Cindy Pickett (Ferris' mother), Lyman Ward (Ferris' father), and Jonathan Schmock (French restaurant manager) are set to attend the Q&A, with more stars and production members in talks to join.
There will also be a live re-creation of the famous 'Twist and Shout' parade, as well as a 2-part, 2-day long bus tour featuring all of the filming locations, including:
Glenbrook North High School
Art Institute of Chicago
Wrigley Field baseball park
...and many more!
Also, a very cool re-creation of Ferris' bedroom (created by designers Sarah Keenlyside and Joe Clement) will be on display for attendees to view.
Tickets are available now and can be purchased as a full 3-day package, for individual days, or for individual events. Click here to buy tickets now!
