Everyone is left in shock after witnessing Zoom murdering Jay and being pulled through the breach. Barry tells Harry to reopen the breach but Harry tells him it is impossible. Cisco takes Caitlin away, who is left broken over the ordeal. While Caitlin rests, Harry, Cisco, and Barry agree not to discuss what happened on Earth-2 for fear of repercussions. While everyone tries to move on, the humanoid shark-monster that Harry stopped, known as "King Shark", escapes A.R.G.U.S. custody and heads for Central City to kill the Flash. Diggle and Lyla arrive to warn Barry, which prompts him to look for King Shark and put a stop to him for good. Barry teams up with Diggle, Lyla, and the rest of A.R.G.U.S. to track King Shark, and in their first attempt he evades them, but not before he kills two agents. Caitlin and Cisco go to to Nautilus Labs to get information from Earth 1 Shay Lamden's wife Tayna. Caitlin acts cold towards her, alarming Cisco. They are however able to get information from Tayna. While Barry tries to bond with Wally, King Shark shows shows up at the West-Allen home looking for the Flash, tracking Barry's electrical field. Barry tries to fight him, but is is injured. A.R.G.U.S. arrives and forces King Shark to retreat. Wally calls Barry a coward for running away when King Shark attacked so Joe snaps at him. When Wally leaves Barry finally breaks down telling Joe and Iris what really happened on Earth 2. He blames himself for everything that happened there and on their earth. The team attempts to trick King Shark into a trap, but the bait does not work. Tired of running away from the danger and not at it, Barry forces King Shark to chase him out on the water. When he is far enough he creates an electrified, underwater cyclone. He then throws lightning that subdues King Shark and allows A.R.G.U.S. to imprison him again. Diggle thanks Barry and gives him advice to overcome what it is he is going through. Later, Barry vows to open a breach back to Earth-2 to stop Zoom. Back on Earth-2, Zoom brings Jay's body to his lair, and it is revealed that Zoom's real appearance looks exactly like Jay.
The action sequences in this episode were nothing short of epic. We wanted Barry to square off against King Shark and our prayers were answered. Check out these notable scenes.
Shay Lamden/King Shark: The Earth 2 humanoid monster shark who was taken by A.R.G.U.S in attempt to weaponize him. Tasked by Zoom to kill the Flash, he became enraged when Barry tells him he had no way to get back. His Earth 1 counterpart suffered a similar physical changed, but died before His mutation finished.
Tanya Lamden: Earth 1 Shay Lamden's wife. She is a specialist at Nautilus Labs who continued to research what happened to her husband using sharks. She provides the team with her findings in hopes that they could figure out a way to track down King Shark.
Team Flarrow- The crossovers are always exciting, even if it isn't the full line up joining in the adventure. Lyla and Diggle fit in pretty well with Team Flash although they were a bit out of their element. We can even go as far as saying they have the team a reason to keep fighting the good fight. While Barry was the one to take down King Shark they offered him some extra moral support. Lyla telling the team that they would try to learn more about King Shark and how to cure him was awesome. Good thing A.R.G.U.S made her the new director.
Barry and Diggle- These two definitely need to go on more adventures together. Diggle is away the man to pick up his buddies when he knows that they are down. Although he hasn't spent much time with Barry he knew something was eating at him even before learning of Jay's death. He still hasn't gotten used to the whole meta human thing and seeing him react to Barry being the Flash was hilarious.
Barry, Joe and Iris- They knew that something was wrong with him. That there was something more than just Jay dying. When he tells them of what happened on Earth 2 and how he feels responsible for everything that has happened until now. All the darn feels I say, no holding back the tears.
Barry and Wally- They haven't really been able to get to know each other since he came into their lives and their attempt this episode was a bust. Wally thinks that Barry so the prized child and is jealous. Of he only knew who Barry really was he would be showing a little more respect.
Barry, Cisco and Harry- The trio vowed to not say anything about what happened on Earth 2 to keep everyone safe. Only thing is the other two are blabber mouths and didn't listen to the advice.
Barry and Caitlin- They were both in a rut this episode, but after Caitlin cracked a fish joke at him they both managed to smile. No matter what happens she's always got Barry and the team to be there for her.
Allen and West Family- While the rest of the family is getting closer, Barry seemed to become more distant. It was quite an awkward game night they had. Hopefully in time they can fix that.
Cisco and Caitlin- Best friends until the end. Cisco began to worry when Caitlin started to act cold towards him and everyone. He even broke Harry's rule and told her about Killer Frost, but she assured him that she would never be her. The joke she played at the end by pretending to be Killer Frost was hilarious. After a pretty heavy episode we definitely needed that.
Harry and Jesse- Now that they are stuck on Earth 1 they've got nothing else to do but help Team Flash with their missions. They are together now and I guess that is what matters. Harry letting her aid them in catching King Shark worked out and she proved that she definitely inherited her father's brain.
Joe and Wally- After Wally told Barry he was a coward for running away when King Shark appeared, Joe finally told him to buzz off. Joe gave it to Wally straight. Barry is my son and so are. You don't have to worry because I love all my kids.
Diggle and Lyla- They were Pratt much adorable together as always, but man was it funny to see them react to all the weirdness going on in Central City. Lyla kept telling Diggle to get get used to the ideas of metahumans and he refused to. Then she finally realized how weird it was herself.
Diggle and Cisco- It was very brief and we were expecting to maybe just get a glimpse of the helmet, but no. I guess we will have to wait and see tonight on Arrow.
Jaws references- "We're gonna need a bigger Flash." "Queue the Jaws sountrack." "Caitlin I should be Quint." "You known Quint dies right?"
Promethium metal- Is the name given to two metal alloys: "Depleted" and "Volatile" Promethium.Depleted promethium was invented and patented by Steve Dayton of Dayton Industries. When alloyed with titanium and vanadium, it forms a near-invulnerable metal. The bionic and cybernetic components of Cyborg (Victor Stone) are made out of depleted promethium, and Arsenal of the Justice League of America wears a bodysuit that combines both depleted promethium and Kevlar.Promethium is also capable of generating and absorbing near-limitless amounts of energy, and so can be used as a power source for many gadgets. However, this "volatile promethium" is a dangerous mutagen that can be used to mutate living beings or trigger their metagene. Dayton used it when creating the super-powered criminals known as Hybrid. Deathstroke the Terminator's mesh armor, sword and staff are made (either wholly or in part) of volatile promethium. He is likely able to use these weapons without suffering the negative sides effects as a result of his healing factor.
What's To Come/Theories:
We have to wait until March 22nd for The Flash to Zoom back into our lives and they left us with a pretty intense cliffhanger. Zoom looks like Jay, or who we think is Jay. Andrew Kreisberg has said that Earth 1 Hunter Zoloman is Zoom, though the story could be a whole lot deeper than just that. We will see how he came to be and who the man in the mask is. Our guess is that he is the real Jay Garrick. Check out this article, where we theorize a little more in depth about this whole entire face reveal. It could even be Henry Allen, taken by Zoom to use as leverage in case his plan went to poop, like it just did. The next episode has the lady speedster Trajectory making her grand appearance on The Flash and giving the team some trouble.
The Flash has outdone itself again with 'King Shark'. So much action, so many feels, and epic reveal. Next week needs to come around faster. We finally have a face to put to Zoom, but his real back story is yet to be revealed. We are about to go on a hell of a ride this last half of the season which will hopefully lead up to the final battle between Barry and whoever Zoom really is. This episode gets 10 cosmic treadmills out of 10. What did you think about last night's 'King Shark'? Leave it in the comments below we' love to read them!
