"Our own responsibility lies heavy with technology, because technology is something that exists, but the way to use it is in our own hands."

iCon is a short science fiction film, created as a project for the senior year Film Workshop of the film department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.

Why iCon

Today's relationship between us and digital technology is being taken for granted, but if we look ten years back, many of todays advances would sound imposible. Everything keeps evolving rapidly and people just follow. What is the dillema? Do we really need technology? Yes we do, but to what extent? Our own responsibility lies heavy with technology, because technology is something that exists, but the way to use it is in our own hands.

iCon - The Story

In the not too distant future, continuing the search for prosperity, humans developed a series of high tech applications in order to improve their everyday lives. They live in ''smart'' houses where a navigator is installed, a central operating system, that covers the tenant's needs, so that they don't worry about anything. Also, internet use has evolved and people now use it to do everything, all the information and data are there. They work, they communicate and have the ability to adjust everything from the comfort of their own homes. As a result they spend a big part of their lives using it. In such an environment, where technology advances rapidly, not unlike today, people don't have the time to realise how their lives have changed. Orpheus, the protagonist, feels that there is an ''error'' in reality and tries to keep up.
