Be it good or bad, when we think of the classic movies that we've watched over and over a million and one times, a few things come to mind. The music, the plotline being a couple. But you also think of the actor/actress who landed the lead role.
Any Back to the Future fan knows we almost got to see Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly. But what about other classics?
Here are some actors who juuuuuuuust about made it, whether they actually got to film some of the movie, they just auditioned, or they were strongly considered.
Marty McFly, Back to the Future
Indiana Jones, Ind....duh
Katniss Everdeen, The Hunger Games
J-Law & Henry Cavill
Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, Twilight
Jennifer auditioned for Bella (thank GAWD she didn't get that role), and author Stephanie Meyer wanted Cavill for Edward.
Jurassic Park, Ellie Sattler and Rose, Titanic
Django, Django Unchained
Quentin created the role with Will Smith in mind, but Big Willy wanted to be the lead.
Will Smith & Ewan McGregor
Neo, The Matrix
Agent J., MIB
Agent K., we were on a break!
Hagrid, Harry Potter
Show me the money! Wait, never mind...I have gobs already.
Actual quote, I sh#t you not: "People wouldn't have believed a nice guy like OJ playing the part of a ruthless killer."
Jack Sparrow, Pirates of the Caribbean
Alexander Skarsgard & Josh Hartnett
Thor & Loki
Sonya Blade, Mortal Kombat
A broken wrist while training for a fight sequence made it possible for Bridgette Wilson to take over
Ross Gellar's father-in-law/Emily Waltham's dad, Friends
Kelly Kapowski, Saved by the Bell
Had she gotten that role, maybe Tiffani Amber Theissen would have become a spokesperson for the anti-vax movement. Jennie did end up playing Valerie Malone later on.
Annette Hargrove, Cruel Intentions
Anastasia Steele, Fifty Shades of Grey
Still probably would have sucked with the Pretty Little Liars actress.
Josh Hartnett (again)
Batman, Superman, AND Spiderman. Seems a little hard to believe, but whatevs.
Abraham Lincoln, Lincoln
Max Dennison, Hocus Pocus & Patrick Bateman, American Psycho
Gave up the chance at Hocus Pocus to be in What's Eating Gilbert Grape, in which he snagged the first of many Almost Oscars.
The Doctor, Doctor Who
Blake Lively, Angelina Jolie and Natalie Portman
Ryan Stone, Gravity
Mighty Ducks, unknown role
His parents wouldn't let him out of school to audition! The nerve!
Dwight, The Office
Max De Costa, Elysium
He wouldn't take the role because his demand that it be filmed in Detroit wasn't met...weird
Han Solo, Star Wars
Al said it had something to do with him not understanding the script. What's not to understand?
Frances Bean Cobain
Bella Swan, Twilight
The daughter of Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain, her mom claimed that she had a shot (no pun intended...jeez) at the role. Not sure I would believe that woman.
Captain Kirk's father, the new Star Trek
Jessica Biel, Britney Spears & Reese Witherspoon
Allie, The Notebook
Precious Jones, Precious
A part in That '70s Show
Not a movie, but cool nonetheless
Lead in Seven & Michael Clayton
Severus Snape, Harry Potter
I'd say that worked out well! R.I.P. Alan Rickman
Don Draper, Mad Men
Leigh Anne Touhy, The Blind Side
Jake Sully, Avatar
Not only have we had to spend billions of dollars rescuing Matt Damon during a war, from Mars and from deep space, but we almost had to use that tree to make him and his avatar one.
Freddie Prinze, Jr.
Peter Parker, Spider-Man
IIIII don't think so, Freddie
