Okay, so recently, Zoom revealed his identity. And I guess the producers expected people to go "Whoaaa" but instead got a response like "Huh? What?" At the end of Episode 15, titled King Shark, we see that Zoom brings back apparent "Jay Garrick's" dead body. The Man In The Iron Mask was really hit by this. We could see him extremely shocked at the sight. Just when we thought the credits were gonna roll, we see Zoom remove his mask, only to Teddy Sears (Actor who plays Jay Garrick) show his face.

Well.... This, is a complication.
Well.... This, is a complication.

Really aptly said, Zoom. This IS a complication. I'm sure others, including myself, are confused as to who this is, REALLY. Is it Jay Garrick? Is it Hunter Zolomon? Or someone else? Well, as it so happens, the show's executive producer, Andrew Kreisberg, confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that Zoom is actually Hunter Zolomon, Jay's doppelgänger from the episode "Return of the Reverse-Flash."

Yep. This guy.
Yep. This guy.
"How all of that plays out and what's actually happening, we'll leave for after the break," Kreisberg said. "But we wanted to go out on this run of episodes with a big reveal, just the same way we did at the end of Episode 9 in Season 1, where we revealed that Harrison Wells was the Man in the Yellow Suit. Zoom's identity is finally revealed."
"They let this person in," he added. "Part of the reason he was able to do that was because there was a hole in the center of their group, and he knew that. He was able to step in because they wanted it so desperately. Barry was missing his mentor, Wells, and here comes Jay offering to be his mentor. Caitlin had lost Ronnie, and then here comes Jay offering to be her new knight in shining armor."

I have a slightly-far fetched theory explaining Zoom's reveal. For easier understanding, I have divided it into parts. Please read the whole thing before commenting.

Part 1: Zoom fights Jay Garrick on Earth-2.

So, as we have seen in the episode "Flash of Two Worlds", Jay Garrick was fighting with Zoom before he came to Earth-2. Zoom almost killed him, but further than that, no information was disclosed by Garrick. He didn't say WHY Zoom was fighting him. So here's what I think. Zoom starts fighting with Jay Garrick and at the moment Jay is almost dead, he screams "Stop! I'll do ANYTHING." Upon hearing this, Zoom takes uses Jay to his advantage. He sends Jay through the breach, and tells him to report if there's any speedster there. Then Jay starts stalking Barry Allen, AKA The Flash, and waits for Zoom's further command. To his surprise, Zoom tells him to become friends with Barry Allen.

Knock, knock. Who's there? Your worst nightmare.
Knock, knock. Who's there? Your worst nightmare.

Part 2: Jay Garrick meets Team Flash.

After following Barry to S.T.A.R Labs and telling his side of the story, Team Flash are still not sure whether to trust the mystery man from the other side of the portal or breach. But after a few metahuman occurrences, Team Flash believe that Jay is good and not bad.

Part 3: Harry Wells doesn't like Jay Garrick and vice-versa.

Harrison Wells of Earth-2, known as Harry by Team Flash, does not seem to like Jay Garrick one bit, and vice-versa. They both seem to have an odd, sort of enmity towards each other, almost as if they've known each other a long time. Jay Garrick tells Team Flash that even though this Harrison Wells may not be their Wells, but has just as many secrets.

Barry just be chillin'.
Barry just be chillin'.

Part 4: Where has Jay gone off to?

Seeing that we have 15 episodes till now in Season 2, we see Jay Garrick very less. With no clue where Jay Garrick is, even Team Flash seems to ignore his absence. It seems odd that Jay comes to Earth-1 saying that he'll help Team Flash, but is not present for most of the time. This seems a bit weird, don't you think?

Part 5: Jay takes Caitlin to see Hunter Zolomon.

In the episode "The Return of The Reverse-Flash", when Caitlin can't find Jay's Earth-1 doppelganger, he takes her to a park. In the park, he shows her his Earth-1 doppelganger, Hunter Zolomon. What I think is, Jay met up with Zoom and Zoom explained to Jay that he'll come in civilian clothes and glasses, while he gets Caitlin to the park and tell her that he's from Earth-1, as to remove any and all suspicions of Jay's doppelganger being Zoom. Plus, Jay knew that Caitlin would do ANYTHING to find Jay's doppelganger, which meant that there was the risk of knowing Zoom's identity. To explain further, there can only be one copy or doppelganger of a person in one parallel universe. The reason Caitlin couldn't find Jay's doppelganger on Earth-1 was because he was on Earth-2 as Zoom. When in the park, Zolomon came dressed normally to show that a doppelganger exists. But Jay said that they can't take his DNA and replace it because Jay's DNA was altered when lightning struck him. So, the story of Hunter for the time being ended there.

Part 6: Enter, The Man In The Iron Mask.

So in my theory, this is where the Man In The Iron Mask comes in. I think that The Man In The Iron Mask is Jay Garrick's doppelganger. This explains why he spelled out J-A-Y in the cage. He IS Jay Garrick, but of Earth-1. He spells out his name indicating that he's Jay Garrick of Earth-1 and Jay's doppelganger and not Hunter Zolomon.

Not one, not two, but three men with the same face.
Not one, not two, but three men with the same face.

Part 7: Summing it all up.

Zoom tells Jay Garrick to spy on Team Flash for him, Harry suspects Jay is upto something, Jay is hardly ever around, Jay and Zoom make a plan to make Caitlin drop the plan of searching for Jay's doppelganger, The Man In The Iron Mask is Jay's true Earth-1 doppelganger.

On a final note, I think Zolomon's words while revealing his identity, "Well, this is a complication" were said because he has nobody else left to spy on Team Flash well cause he himself killed Jay Garrick.

Heeeere's Zoom-y!
Heeeere's Zoom-y!

To find out further about the fastest nightmare alive's backstory, we'll have to further watch The Flash which resumes 22 March at 8|7c. Until next time, and thanks for reading my (loooong) theory :D

Does my theory make the slightest sense to you?
