The Comic Professor

Back in 2013, it was announced that kicking things off sometime in 2015 Marvel and Netflix would be collaborating for a 13-episode series revolving around the character of Daredevil. Continuing the multi-year rollout of projects, a Jessica Jones series would come after that, followed by new takes on Iron Fist and Luke Cage. It was also announced that once all four have made their Netflix debut, they would team up for a mini-series event that re-imagines The Defenders, Marvel’s dream team of self-sacrificing, heroic characters.

While Marvel were quick to cast to cast Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock (aka Daredevil), Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones and Mike Colter as Luke Cage. But, right from the beginning, Marvel has struggled to cast an actor for the role of the fourth Defender.

It was widely rumoured that Ryan Phillipe might play the role, till the news was quickly dismissed.

At the end of last month, it was revealed that we'll get to see Danny Rand aka Iron Fist, in the upcoming Luke Cage series just like we got to see Luke Cage in the Jessica Jones series. And we knew that, Iron Fist casting news was soon to follow. And we have an actor announced within a month of that. Best known for his potrayal of Ser Loras Tyrell on the HBO hit, will take on the role of the martial arts master in the upcoming Netflix series.

Iron Fist will release sometime in 2017.
