We all know that Disney is the best of the best when it comes to hiding secret messages within their movies. (If you're not familiar, go check out my article, 15 Times Disney and Pixar Made Appearances in Their Own Movies.) But many fans believe putting images of their movies within their other movies isn't the only thing they're good at. We also believe they are very good at relating the characters within the same universe as well, especially Ariel, better known as The Little mermaid. Now, many of these are just fun theories to think about, many with timing issues, or too many ins and outs to want to piece together, but they are definitely food for thought, and who knows? Maybe Hercules and Ariel can attend a family reunion sometime!

1. The Little Mermaid and Hercules

Let's step back a little. According to greek mythology, the god of thunder and ruler of the gods, Zeus, and the god of sea, Poseidon, are brothers. Now, Zeus is Hercules' father. Poseidon is Trition's father, making Triton and Hercules first cousins. Triton is Ariel's father. This would make Ariel Hercules' first cousin once removed!

Tangled, The Little Mermaid, and Frozen

Okay, this one is longer, so stay with me. In Frozen, it is known that Anna and Elsa's parents, the King and Queen of Arendelle, were killed in a shipwreck on their way to a wedding. The start of a fan theory came when Disney included Flynn Rider, a.k.a Eugene and Rapunzel, in the movie Frozen.

Many believe that the ship which carried the King and Queen sank when the pair were on their way to celebrate the return and the marriage of Princess Rapunzel. They never made it, and Flynn and Rapunzel felt that it would be best to visit Elsa at her coronation. Now here is where it gets weird. Rapunzel is from the Kingdom of Corona, which is in Germany. The Kingdom of Arendelle, which is where Anna and Elsa are from, is in Norway. In between these two places is Denmark, which is near where Ariel is from. In The Little Mermaid, Ariel explores a sunken ship that she loves. Many fans say the ship could, sadly, be the King and Queen's ship.

Tarzan and Frozen

It is known in Tarzan that his parents died after his birth and were more or less royalty.

During a Reddit AMA, Frozen producer Chris Buck confirmed that Anna and Elsa's parents didn't die right away, and instead found themselves on a jungle island and gave birth to a baby boy. He also suggested that they met their demise after being eaten by a leopard - which is how Tarzan's father died. So... Tarzan is Anna and Elsa's brother?

Unfortunately, these last two would be slightly more unlikely considering when The Little Mermaid and Tarzan were made, and that Africa, where Tarzan is from, is a bit far from Denmark, but nevertheless, the theory has every other piece of evidence to back it up.

The Little Mermaid and Peter Pan

Remember the red haired mermaid with the blue tail from Peter Pan?

Well according to many Disney fans, she looks a heck of a lot like Ariel's mother, Athena.

The resemblance is uncanny, and we now know where Ariel got her attitude from as a teenager. In Peter Pan, Athena was definitely not the nicest.

Unfortunately, many of these theories are just theories. With only some timing issues, however, many of them would be spot on. What are some of your Disney crossover theories?
