I must admit, I haven't rooted for an American Idol contestant since David Cook won in season seven, and I actually stopped watching after the year Scotty McCreery took home the title. I lost interest, like many people out there. Yet, when I heard it was the final season of Idol, a wave of nostalgia overtook me and I decided to give it one last shot for old times' sake and actually, I haven't been disappointed. It's been an enjoyable season so far, in spite of having judges who occasionally annoy me.

With that in mind, I want to go through my favorites and discuss why I feel each could win, but ultimately I want to discuss who I think will be the winner. So, without further ado, let's get started!

Mackenzie Bourg

I really enjoy Mackenzie. He has a great voice and I really like his mellow style.

He's a little bit folk, a little bit alternative, but either way, he's one of the more talented voices on the side of the men; he's not showy and he can't do a whole lot of vocal acrobatics, but what he does do really works. Not to mention, he's pretty cute. Is it just me, or does he resemble James Potter just a bit?

At any rate, his voice is pretty magical. Watch below:

Avalon wasn't one of my favorites in the beginning, but she's starting to grow on me. Like Mackenzie, she has a nice, laid back vibe.

Last time she performed, I felt the judges were incorrect in their assessment of her. I agreed with Kelly Clarkson who told her she was "captivating"; I also feel that, unlike many of the younger contestants up there, she shows a lot of confidence and seems comfortable on the stage. She could be a dark horse if she survives the next elimination.

Overall, the girls this season are pretty strong. Yet, this girl is one of the best there is.

Tristan is so young, but really commands your attention. She has an excellent voice and I think she could be a real contender. She's still a little inexperienced, but I think she will learn fast, plus, she's really pretty and just looks great on stage.

In terms of the other contestants, I really like Dalton, but I don't think he's the most talented singer.

Even so, he's a great performer which sort of makes up for it. I really like his look; he's a little bit Green Day, and a little bit grunge. I love his hair and that he wears eyeliner. He's not my favorite voice, but he's one of my favorite contestants; he definitely looks the part of an American Idol. I think he'll go pretty far.

Now, I love Sonika; I think she might be my favorite female singer this season.

She has a clear, bell-like quality to her voice and she picks songs that showcase the beauty of her singing. She's young, but seems quite polished unlike many of her teenage peers. She's my top choice of the girls, and I'm rooting for her to make the final two.

Now, Trent. Trent is the indisputable winner, in my opinion. He's unique, and extremely talented; he is arguably the best singer in the competition. He caught my eye during the Hollywood rounds when he got diagnosed with mono and was feeling really ill. Even so, he managed to do far better than contestants who were completely healthy. He showed what he's made of and proved that even when he feels like dying, he will sing his heart out.

I think all the other contestants are okay with the exception of La'porsha who is actually really, really good. For whatever reason, she just doesn't strike me as a winner this year, but she does have enormous talent. The others are very young and inconsistent; they have their moments (particularly Olivia), but over all, they just aren't strong enough to be the last American Idol. Trent impresses me every time which is why I feel he could win. It will be interesting to watch him go to the end, because I just know he will be the next American Idol!
