2016 Best Picture Nominees

The Oscars. Pretty much the Super Bowl for movie fans everywhere....... except movie fans also like the Super Bowl cause of all the trailers. Either way, the Oscars is one of the biggest nights of the year for movie fans everywhere, myself included. I look forward to this night every year, as it's a great opportunity to look back at the previous year in film and get excited for what the next year has to offer.

This year's Oscar nominees are an interesting bunch. Little seen indie gems like Room and Carol, as well as highly-anticipated blockbusters like Mad Max: Fury Road and The Martian make up this year's nominees, and for me personally, this has been one of the hardest years to predict the winners in a very long time. So many of this year's categories have proven to be a very close race, but nonetheless, I've made my official predictions, and I'm ready to see how terribly wrong they end up being, leading to me suffering a bout of unnerving depression and hiding in my closet curled up the fetal position.

Ok maybe it won't go that far. But either way, let's take a look at my predictions. I'm predicting Mad Max: Fury Road will be the night's big winner with 5 Academy Awards, followed closely by The Revenant with 4, including Leonardo DiCaprio's long coveted first Oscar. And while I still feel confident that Spotlight will take the night's top prize, don't be surprised to see Alejandro G. Innaritu up there for the second year in a row accepting the award for The Revenant.

Here are my full predictions, along with what I feel deserves to win in each category, and which one could pull an upset.
