Just around the corner from the location of the 2016 Oscars, another awards ceremony was being held this past weekend, celebrating achievements of a different kind. The Razzies, a golden raspberry of an award given to the best of the worst of last year's movies, held just a 23-minute drive from the prestigious Academy Award ceremony at The Palace Theatre in Los Angeles.

The prize, a golden raspberry stuck atop a film reel, references the fart noise of "blowing a raspberry." E! Online once called The Razzies "the foremost authority on all things that suck on the big screen." They act as an irreverent foil to the corporate back-patting of the Oscars taking place across town.

The big 'winners' this year were Fantastic Four and Fifty Shades of Grey - who took home a combined haul of eight awards.

Fantastic Four really impressed the judges, who gave it three big golden berries for Worst Picture, Worst Director (Josh Trank) and Worst Remake/Rip-Off or Sequel.

Rotten Tomatoes honored it with a rating of 9%. Metacritic followed in a similar vein with 27 out of 100, while IMDb gave it a marginally better 4.3 out of 10. It fell relatively flat at the box office, taking home $168 million after a $120 million budget.

Fifty Shades wasn't better received by critics, receiving 25% on Rotten Tomatoes, but 'quality' and ticket sales don't always relate: it pulled in a whopping $571 million after a $40 million budget.

The adaptation of the E L James novel won five Razzies, to which I'm sure they will chuckle at from their gold mountain, including Worst Picture (shared with Fantastic Four), Worst Actor (Jamie Dornan) and Worst Actress (Dakota Johnson).

Other winners included Academy Award Winner Eddie Redmayne for Worst Supporting Actor in Jupiter Ascending, Kaley Cuoco for Worst Supporting Actress in The Wedding Ringer while the great Sylvester Stallone earned himself the coveted Redeemer Award.
