Actress and producer Selma Hayek sadly lost her dog on 19 February, after being shot by a neighbor.
The star, who has featured in films such as Grown Ups, Puss in Boots, and Wild Wild West, posted this Instagram:
Alongside her Instagram was this heartbreaking message:
I haven't posted for a week as I been mourning the death of my dog, Mozart who I personally delivered out of his mother's womb. He was found dead in my ranch last Friday with a shot close to his heart.
I am hoping that the Washington State authorities do justice to this wonderful dog whom in nine years never bit or attacked anyone. He loved his territory and never strayed away...he was the most loving and loyal companion. He didn't deserve a slow and painful death.
A vet said a missile had nicked an artery, leading the dog to slowly bleed to death internally.
Since this was posted on Saturday, police discovered that the shooter had legally attacked 9-year-old Mozart.
TMZ reported that the dog had been trespassing in the neighbor's garage. The neighbor said he was "sick" of Hayek's dogs attacking his dogs, which apparently happened whenever the caretaker took them for a walk.
He had fired a pellet gun, usually a non-lethal weapon, to try and scare them away. The police are not taking the matter further because the dog had been trespassing on the property.
Hayek is a proud animal lover, and has around 50 pets, including 8 dogs.
