I don't personally look like either woman, but I would be delighted to be mistaken for either Whoopi Goldberg or Oprah Winfrey. Both are strong, intelligent and hilarious powerhouses. I look up to them both very much, as they are clear inspirations for being badasses.
This will never happen to me, but it definitely happened to Goldberg. A beauty mag took her as Winfrey, thinking that Oprah was flashing her new chest tattoo during the 2016 Oscars. Goldberg is anything but bothered at this error.
While chatting on The View, Whoopi had this to say:
"They could have used an orangutan and said, 'Hey, an orangutan has a new tattoo.'"
When chatting with ET after the Oscars, she explained that she "could be compared to a lot worse people."
"As long as [Winfrey's] not pissed, I'm fine," Goldberg added. Oprah's reaction? An Instagram post with her best friend Gayle King's daughter Kirby Bumpus, in which the two look into the camera with a "SAY WHAAAT?!" look on their faces.
@Oprah & favorite daughter watching #Oscars & seeing @totalbeautyeditors snafu! We all love @whoopigoldberg but we don't all look alike Jeeeze!
Total Beauty magazine has since apologized for the incorrect tweet:
"We'd like to apologize to Oprah and Whoopi, as well as everyone we've offended. It was our error, and there are no excuses. We're sorry."
Thanks for the apology, Total Beauty. But Oprah is right when she says, "We don't all look alike!"
