Beloved author Louise Rennison has passed away in her sixties.

Rennison was the author of hugely popular book series The Confessions of Georgia Nicholson, which spawned the film "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging". This was the movie which catapulted Quicksilver actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson into the spotlight.

Rennison's publisher Harper Collin's confirmed the news earlier this evening saying:

"It is with huge sadness that we can confirm the death of our much loved author and friend, Louise Rennison."

Louise Rennison was one of my favourite authors in my teenage years, and I truly identified with the clumsy Georgia, who couldn't help but get into awkward situations.

She will be dearly missed by the British writing community, and by her legions of fans across the world.

R.I.P Louise Rennison.
