***Spoilers For The Post-Credit Scene(s) From Deadpool Follow, So If YOU Don't Want It Spoiled, Too Stinking Bad!***
Since the post-credits scene(s) in Deadpool, The Merc' With A Mouth told audiences that Cable was to appear in Deadpool 2. He also gave three actors who could possibly play him: Mel Gibson, Dolph Lundgren, or Keira Knightley...yes, that's a girl.
With those three in mind, below are 7 actors who'd make a great Cable!
1. Stephen Lang
For many fans, Stephen Lang, 63, would be the greatest, and probably one of the most comic accurate, castings ever. Lang, even in his older age, stays pretty fit, so a big role like this shouldn't slow him down any. He's appeared in the most successful movie, Avatar, as well as other great things like Conan the Barbarian, Terra Nova, Tombstone, and Gods and Generals.
2. Eric Dane
The 43-year-old is best known for playing Dr. Mark "McSteamy" Sloan on the medical television series Grey's Anatomy. He's also the star of the fairly new show, The Last Ship, and hasn't really appeared in much else. He has the looks and acting chops and physical build to play a big character, or villain at that.
3. Sean Bean
Sean Bean, 56, is widely known for dying in about every single one of his roles. He's appeared in many great things, the more notable role being Boromir in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Maybe he needs a bigger role so he'll stop dying in other things?
4. Ron Perlman
Ron Perlman, regardless of many people's opinions, is a really great actor. The 65-year-old has appeared in many amazing things like Hellboy, Sons of Anarchy, Blade II, Tangled, Pacific Rim, and even played Beast in the 1987 television series, Beauty and the Beast.
5. Ray Stevenson
Ray, 51, recently played Ed Skrein's dad in the rebooted Transporter series, The Transporter: Refueled, as well as played the Punisher in 2008's Punisher: War Zone, which was a sort-of-kinda-remake-continuation thingy.
6. George Clooney
Like Mr. Perlman, George Clooney, 54, is a great actor but had one role that comic fans around didn't care for...like at all (Ron's being Hellboy and Clooney's being Batman, or just his bat-nipples). The Ocean's series, Gravity, and the recent Tomorrowland are just a few honorable mentions, but there are many others.
7. Jon Hamm
The 44-year-old actor is best known for playing Don Draper in the television series, Mad Men. He's been in a number of things, but nothing besides Mad Men that has really defined his career. He was, for the longest time, rumored to be playing Negan in the hit show The Walking Dead.
In the Ultimate X-Men comic series, Cable is a future version of Wolverine who goes back to the past to capture Professor Xavier, who returns with him to the future, to train him for the coming battle with Apocalypse. And since we know Apocalypse will be in X-Men: Apocalypse (duh?) and the next solo Wolverine film will be "loosely based" on the Old Man Logan comic series, could this happen?
