The team is knocked into Star City 2046 after being attacked by Chronos. The city has been destroyed and Rip explains it is a possible future should they not find a way to get back into the temporal zone to fix it.They are confronted by a hooded archer who Sara and Ray think is Oliver. He attacks them forcing them to retreat back to the ship. Rip tasks Ray, Stein, Kendra and Jax in repairing the ship while he Sara, Mick and Snart explore the city to find a price of tech to fix the ship. Stein realizes that Jax likes Kendra after he senses his jealously towards Kendra and Ray's closeness. A war breaks out and the team watch as Connor takes on an army. Sara rushes to help him with Rip following. Snart and Mick go to rob a bank and are confronted by rioters. He and Mick dispatch of the leader and while Snart wants to leave, Mick wants to stay. Sara confronts the archer who tells her that Oliver died. While he tells the story of what happened to the city they are met by Grant Wilson, Slade's son and the new Deathstroke. Outnumbered they make their escape. While trying to set Jax up with Kendra, Stein inadvertently pushes Ray to pursue her. Kendra tells Ray that her life is too complicated to pursue any type of love.life with Jax overhearing the conversation. Snart and Mick realize that they have different goals now that they are part of a team. The archer tells Sara that Oliver was overwhelmed by Deathstroke's forces and that everyone died. He takes them to the old Arrowcave to obtain the tech they need and find Oliver there with a missing arm. Oliver reveals the archers name as John Diggle Jr. Who goes by the name Connor Hawke. Oliver tells Sara that because she and Ray left, there was no one to go against Grant but himself after their families and friends died. He tells them the Felicity left and took everything with her, but gives them the location of where they might find the tech. Grant Wilson shows up at the bar where Mick and Snart are to tell everyone to look for the rest of the team. Snart and Mick are in disagreement of what they want to do with Mick wanting to stay and Snart wanting to save their friends. Sara, John and Rip go to the Smoak Tech building and Rip finds the tech. They are ambushed by Grant and his army who take John after a struggle. Rip reminds Sara, who wants to save John, that this is only a potential timeline and the only way to save it is to get back to where they need to be. Sara decides to stay and find John with Stein and Jax backing her up. Snart tells Mick that there is something more than just stealing, that they have to save the world. Sara asks Oliver for help in saving John and he agrees. Oliver and Sara saved John from.being executed and an all out battle breaks out. Stein gets Rip to change his mind and the team arrives to help. Oliver and John work together and defeat Grant while the Legends handle everyone else. Sara says her goodbyes to Oliver and John who decide to rebuild the Arrowcave and keep to keep the city safe.
The action really picked up at the end when the Legends joined Sara, Oliver, and Connor Hawke in kicking Grant Wilson's ass and his army. Check out these notable scenes.
John Diggle Jr./Connor Hawke/Green Arrow II: The son of John Diggle and we are assuming Lyla Michaels. Like father like son. Not bad for being alone for a little over a decade. Diggle Sr would be proud. We have to wonder why he chose the name though. At least he's got Oliver around now.
Oliver Queen/Green Arrow: He's still the Oliver we know just missing an arm and more like the broody season 2 version. Not only did everyone he and Sara loved die, but Felicity also left him at some point. So much for the better or for worse. His look was pretty cool, but he sort of looked like a Green Santa Clause. He's still got the moves though.
Grant Wilson/Deathstroke: Spade Wilson's son. He was nothing like his father. He had a whole gang to do most of his dirty work and while he did hold his own against Oliver and Connor he eventually went down. His dad would be ashamed.
Legends- So we've got half of the team: Sara, Rip, Snart and Mick risking their lives to scavenge the city to find out what happened and to search for parts to fix the ship. While the other half: Ray, Kendra, Stein and Jax stayed behind to make the repairs that they could. Even though Rip tried to convince them that the potential future they were in wasn't as important as the mission in stopping Vandal, he realized he was wrong. Every future is worth fighting for. Cue the ass kicking.
Rip and Sara- They have a pretty strange relationship. Rip has asked Sara to do a lot of his dirty work and the second she asks him for help in saving something important to her, he wouldn't. It took someone else to make him realize she was right. She was right to stand up to him and hopefully now he will actually think about his team and their needs.
Oliver and Sara- We thought there would be some more tears when they saw each other, with the music building up, but they don't roll that way. The League may get upset. It was still a pretty emotional moment though. Seeing the great Oliver Queen, now this broken man who has given up on everything. She brought him back though, gave him something to fight for.
Oliver and Diggle Jr.-Diggle would have been pretty pissed learning that Oliver let his son take on the scum of the city on his own. Diggle Jr or Connor Hawke was just as shocked as Star and Rip learning that Oliver was still alive. He was pretty upset about it too. At least by the time the episode is over the two are working together to rebuild the Arrowcave and the city.
Sara, Rip and Diggle Jr.- Usually one's natural instinct would be to run as far away from the person who fired explosive arrows at you and your friends but then again Sara is a badass. Good thing she followed him though. The three of them made a pretty good Team throughout the episode, after the other two dipped out on them. We wonder what Diggle Jr would have done it he had learned that Rip was going to ditch him.
Ray and Kendra- We may have a bit of a problem if she keeps using the "Two months ago I was a barista story". There was definitely something between the two but the timing was just bad. Looks like Jax is out of the running too. It's okay Ray you'll find someone one day. Another time, another place.
Stein and Jax- After finding out that Jax liked Kendra through their telepathic link she tried to help his boy out. The plan backfired and he ended up making things a lot more complicated for him. At least he taught Jax to be more confident, so not all was lost.
Stein and Rip- Rip may be a Time Master, but he definitely has a lot to learn about being part of a team, especially if he's the leader. Stein reminded him that they would be no better than Vandal should they leave Connor to die at the hands of Grant. This convinced him to send out the whole cavalry to help Sara and Oliver out. Drop that wisdom Stein.
Ray and Jax- Just some friendly competition between the two. We haven't really seen them interact with each other since the show started but they seem okay with one another. Between the two, who do you actually think Kendra would have chosen?
Ray and Stein- Every time they talk its always gold. We love how Stein accidently set up Ray and Kendra when he was supposed to do the opposite. Playing the wing man for two guys going after the same woman, Stein's a trouble maker.
Jax and Kendra- He tried, Ray tried and they crashed. As of now Kendra isn't interested in anyone. The thing is that he wasn't even able to get the chance to ask her out himself like Ray did. Just some flirting, but that's about it. Good effort though Jax.
Snart and Mick- This had to be the most important interaction in the episode. Going into this they were just criminals but Snart has come to realize that maybe he wants to be a hero now. He hasn't admitted it yet, but Mick knew that his friends priorities were no longer the same. Snart even called the rest of the team their friends with him reminding Mick that he thought that he was starting to warm up to Ray himself. Their friendship definitely took a hard hit this episode, but hopefully they work things out. They've got a future that needs saving. The episode starring Jonah Hex is coming up soon after and we will probably be seeing Carter popping back up sometime as well. Wonder where our team will confront Vandal next. Our guess is that he isn't going to be in space, but who knows maybe he will/
Star Labs: Could Cisco have had something to do with Oliver's cool mechanical arm? It would make sense if he he did. We may never know.
Fonzi and Kannicki: We love how they just throw around these references in different time periods.
What's To Come/Theories:
In next week's episode 'Marooned' it looks like our Legends are about to head to space to rescue another ship. From the preview we see that some of the team has gone crazy and if some of you guys have seen the movie Pandorum, we may see some variation of that story play out. Mick is seen holding Rip hostage while he is confronted by Snart. Snart and Sara are also seen trying to keep each other warm and Ray's Atom suit floats outside of the ship. Looks like we are in for one tell of a trip next week. Legends of Tomorrow: The Quest to Stop Vandal the Astronaut. So much excite.
'Star City 2046' was another successful episode for Legends of Tomorrow. There was plenty of action and the real origin of Connor Hawke or should we say John Diggle Jr, was a nice twist. Oliver Queen in 2046 was pretty badass and hopefully we will see a brighter future for them one day. Back on the mission to stopping Vandal! Though we do like them changing it up like this. This episode gets 9.7 Waveriders out of 10. What do you think about the episode? Leave it in the comments below, we'd love to read them!
