At the Oscar's last night, Star Wars: The Force Awakens (my personal #1 of 2015) didn't win any of the awards it was nominated for, but we did get to see Daisy Ridley come out on stage to present one of the awards.

The actress spoke with MTV News on the Red Carpet and dropped some information about the next film in the Star Wars saga. Here's what the actress said:

"Me and Mark (Hamill) have been rehearsing a lot, and it's really amazing. When we went back to Skellig to do that opening of 8, it was so crazy doing that same scene with a different crew of people. But he's amazing to rehearse with and I'm very excited to do the rest of the stuff. It's such a good story, seriously. Luke is so cool in this one, really."

Months before The Force Awakens hit theaters back in December, Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill and the filmmakers on Episode VIII returned to Skellig Michael Island to film some footage for Episode VIII. The opening scene will take place immediately after the ending of The Force Awakens which means we'll get to see/hear the very first interaction between Luke Skywalker and the girl that many of us speculate to be his daughter; Rey.

Skellig Michael Island is the location used for the ancient Jedi Temple that Luke has been hiding out in, and where Rey comes into contact with the character.

Star Wars Episode VIII is currently shooting with a slated release date of December 15th 2017, the film is directed by Rian Johnson.
